Fujifilm are pitching the X-A10 towards users who are hunting for their first interchangeable lens camera. It packs a 16.3MP sensor, capable of delivering the high-class image quality the X series is known for, into a lightweight body with intuitive controls. The colour reproduction technology of the X series has been further refined for the X-A10, and Fujifilm says that skin tones are reproduced with particular accuracy by the X-A10, making it an ideal choice for portraiture. Or, indeed, self-portraiture. The rear screen employs a slide-and-tilt mechanism that means it is fully viewable even when tilted around 180 degrees to face the user. When taking a self-portrait, you can activate the shutter with the vertical command dial, which is located directly under the index finger. This helps minimise camera shake and keep your self-portraits nice and sharp.

If you rotate the LCD upwards you’ll activate Eye Detection AF, another handy portrait tool, and there’s also a Portrait Enhancer mode which takes control of settings and optimises them for portraiture. The lightweight body weighs in at 331g with battery and card. The camera’s two command dials allow the user to quickly adjust key settings with just the thumb, while frequently used functions can be assigned to specific buttons.
