A new weather resistant Pentax 100mm f2.8 macro lens has been revealed today, designed to complement the class leading weather sealing of the Pentax K-7 digital SLR. In addition to the WR construction, the lens features Super Protection (SP) coating to protect against dust & grease and reduce reflections to deliver clear high-contrast images.
The optical formula appears to be the same as the current Pentax 100mm macro lens; 9 elements in 8 groups with a focusing range of 30.3cm to infinity. At the 30.3cm minimum focus distance (MFD) the magnification ratio is 1:1, for life size macro photography. The working distance is 13cm (distance from the front of the lens to the subject) which makes the lens suitable for subjects such as insects which can be scared away.
