For my mind, Fujifilm is once again raising the bar with this camera. Not only is it technically well grounded, but it produces amazing images. And you know what? It’s fun to use. It’s a feel-good camera.
Everyone wants to bring home great holiday shots, but many of us don’t want to lug our DSLR kit away with us. Thankfully, there are plenty of cameras out there that take up significantly less room than a conventional DSLR, but still enable you to get quality results.
My first foray into the real world with the G1 X was when we had a spot of rain-related bother in Frome. I decided to step out with only the G1 X as company and see what it would be like in a ‘news’ situation. Ok, we’re not talking fast-paced action here, but the conditions were challenging enough.
Replacing the older A35 model, the new Alpha A37 is Sony’s entry-level offering in their range of SLT cameras equipped with their revolutionary Translucent Mirror Technology. The NEX-F3 is the new entry-level model in Sony’s ever-popular ILC (Interchangeable Lens Camera) range and like the A37, it’s replacing an older camera too – in this case it’s the NEX-C3.
I tend to shoot my X100 in JPG mode purely because the image quality out of the camera is almost always useable and I don’t find myself wanting the extensibility that the RAW files may give me. I’ve shot this camera at 6400 ISO and the noise handling is just sublime.

Yesterday Canon has released 2 NEW compact camera’s to their already well established IXUS range – The Canon IXUS 500 HS (left) and the Canon IXUS 125 HS (right). The two new additions take a new place in the IXUS line up and do not replace any of the current existing models.
It’s that exciting time of year again when new product announcements start rolling in and Canon’s announcement of the high-end PowerShot G1 X compact camera this afternoon is very exciting indeed! Created for professionals and keen enthusiasts alike, the G1 X is a serious bit of kit packed into a relatively small body.
