Canon Reviews
Wex Photographic features tests & reviews by independent expert photographers and our staff. Here are a few of our latest Canon reviews:
- by Tim Gander "While the Canon G1 X is clearly physically larger than the G11, I wouldn’t call it massive. Think G11 on a mild dose of steroids. Though the G1 X has gained size in all directions in comparison to the G11, most of the extra bulk is in the lens assembly which is quite an extra lump on the face of the camera."
- by Natalie Williams "Canon was definitely near the top of my list of stands to visit on my first of two days at Photokina, Europe’s biggest Photographic industry trade event. I headed over there this afternoon to spend some time with their new ‘entry-level’ full frame, the EOS 6D…"
- by Warehouse Staff "This morning (7th Feb) Canon announced the introduction of TWO new digital SLR cameras into their EOS line-up. As with the launch of the 60D, I was invited to Canon UK's HQ in Woodhatch to see what the new models would be and, more importantly, have a little play with them."
- by Jason Whitehead "Canon has used Image stabilisation (IS) to great effect in their cameras for many years, so it is no surprise that the leading IS binoculars are produced by one of the world's leading photographic brands."
- by Warehouse Staff "Today, Wex Photographic received stock of the new digital SLR from Canon – enough to fulfill our back-orders for the camera, stock up our warehouse and showroom, and let the sales staff in the Wex Photographic contact centre get their hands on a 60D for the first time."
- by Hamish Brown "Canon has taken the developments both pre and post digital, and provided a fast, high quality camera body for both stills and video. It has improved metering, focusing and a gamut of new features that raise the stakes across the DLSR board."
- by Koko Brown "I was really excited about getting this wee camera and was delighted when I came home and found a big box sitting innocently on the stairs!"
- by H. Brown "The first signs of my crush came about when I rented a body for the weekend. Really it was an unnecessary exercise, and more a manner in which to convince myself that I needed the camera, and feel a little less guilty pleasure if (when) I bought it."
- by Rob Spray "...a great, fun package and a camera you can use on the shallower dives which are often the most relaxed and rewarding." Rob Spray takes the D10 to Holland.
- by Warehouse Staff "... The clarity of the result surprised me; a combination of the quality optics in the 18-200mm lens and the sensor in the 50D. By reviewing and enlarging this telephoto image on the screen of the Canon..."
Canon History
The company that we know today as Canon started in the 1930’s when a group of scientists decided to make their presence known in the field of camera technology and created Japan’s first 35mm focal plane-shutter camera prototype, known as ‘The Kwanon’. Their success grew and they became known in the UK in 1976. Eleven years later they introduced the EOS System (Electro Optical System, also the name of a goddess of the dawn), establishing the Canon Foundation.
Canon has since become a household name, popular worldwide for its originality, style and reliability. Today Canon is a world-leading innovator and provider of imaging and information technology solutions for the home and office.
