Stability, versatility and a low weight are the prime considerations when choosing a tripod. For over 35 years Benbo tripods have offered photographers a unique combination of these factors.
Whether used in the standard configuration with a vertical centre column, down at ground level with legs splayed out, or with one of the legs pointing upward finding support from a tree or wall, Benbo tripods can always be relied upon to give complete stability.
Constructed from drawn tubing with no internal seams, with the lower tubing having sealed feet, allowing the tripod to be stood in water, mud or snow up to the leg joint. More
The tubular aluminium construction of the legs offers the best possible combination of weight and rigidity. Each leg can be independently positioned, made possible by the tripods unique, highly flexible main joint, which enables each leg to swing through a complete 360 degrees (see picture). The centre column can also be swung through 360 degrees, producing a combination that allows the camera to be positioned at almost any point.

Would be great if it locked tight
About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Comments about Benbo Compact Trekker Mk3:
I really wanted to love this tripod. As a long time user of a Uni-Loc 1700, I'm very familiar with this type of tripod and its idiosyncratic handling. That handling, once you're used to it, is fantastic for flexibility outside, in very uneven territory (e.g. rock gullies), especially in positioning the camera away from the main tripod for very wide shots including a lot of ground surface but without the legs in shot. The Uni-Loc is *very* heavy though, and I was looking for a lightweight version, which this product definitely offers. I would have kept it, but for one considerable design flaw: the main handle just doesn't lock tight enough to prevent the legs from slipping. You can't even pick up the tripod (collapsed) with one leg without it slipping under its own weight. Now, this may not be a problem with a very rough ground surface, and a very lightweight set-up mounted upon it, but I would not trust it with expensive heavier kit (well within the spec btw) on a slightly slippery surface (e.g. indoors hard floor or wet coastal rock platform). Such a shame, as otherwise it matched what I was after. If only Uni-Loc would make a carbon fibre version...
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
