The Black Rapid FR-T1 is designed to attach to a Manfrotto RC2 quick release plate meaning you can attach your camera directly to your R-Strap without having to unscrew the tripod/monopod plate. Manufactured from stainless steel with a black nickel finish the FR-T1 is fully compatible with the Manfrotto 200PL-14 for the RC2 quick release system. The package includes replacement bolt, C-clip, spacing washers and instructions.

I have two manfrotto tripod heads, a 234RC and a 324RC2. The T1 works well but I found the d-ring to be a little stiff when it is pushed flat to allow connection to the heads.

This may not be a problem, but I was worried about putting the pins under stress, which in-turn made me worried about a stress fracture and failure.

The spacer washer that was included doesn't seem to be thick enough to allow it to be tightly screwed, but still free to move the d-ring; even with the original washer from the head included to double the thickness.

I looked for a suitable addition, but this sort of washer is hard to find. However, there is a simple solution.

I coated both sides of the washer with the aluminium tape (it has adhesive on one side) that is used in burglar alarm sensors for glass. This gave enough extra thickness to allow the d-ring to swivel without fouling on the plate. The tape is available through popular electronic supply stores on the highstreet.

Excellent addition to my Black Rapid collection enabling me to add another camera without fiddling with screws. Makes going back to the tripod easy as it fixes through the ball head plate. Expensive but then I'm hanging a 5DMark11 from it and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
