The Black Rapid RS-4's smart design is lightweight and low profile. It features a quick access, secure pocket for storing two extra memory cards in their protective cases. Like all R-Straps, the RS-4 is incredibly comfortable and quick on the draw. The Black Rapid FastenR-3 (FR-3) is the point of contact between your camera and your R-Strap. It’s machined from a solid stock of 304 stainless steel, and has an integral D-Ring for coupling to the R-Strap’s ConnectR. The FR-3 uses a high-grade rubber compression washer to ensure a snug, positive connection with your camera. Switching to the FR-3 offers you more comfort when shooting in portrait, and a sense of security knowing your camera is fastened tight to your R-Strap. More
The Original Camera Sling.
The R-Strap is the most innovative camera strap ever to hit the market. This patent-pending piece of equipment offers unparalleled ease of access to your camera and peace of mind.
The R-Strap is worn diagonally across the torso from shoulder to hip and is adjustable to fit most photographers. The pad has a mesh underside for comfort and breathability.
Black Rapid's locking FastenR connects the R-Strap to the tripod socket located on either the camera body or the lens. Once connected, the camera hangs upside down, resting securely at your side or in the small of your back, with the lens pointing behind you.
With the camera at your hip or behind your back, you can manoeuvre easily through a crowd, carry a tripod or other gear, or simply have both hands free. When you’re ready to take the shot, the camera quickly glides up the strap into shooting position.

For me it's brilliant. It hangs over your shoulder and you're camera's on the other end ready to use. Straps a bit awkward to adjust to the length that you want. But I managed to do mine by watching a video on line.
Definitely worth having
OK...yes, it is just a camera strap that costs much more than most! (Right, that's that out of the way)First saw this properly demonstrated at [...] and was really surprised at how comfortable it felt even just for a few minutes. Had reservations about an expensive DSLR+Lens hanging upside down at my hip, but you get used to this very quickly.Watched the R-Strap video on the manufacturer's website and decided to buy one. Used this for the first time on a wedding shoot, then soon after at a black-tie events shoot. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!When you're on the go for hours, the comfort is brilliant. The huge benefit for me is that I can work close up with couples, setting them into their poses without having a bulky camera sticking out from my torso (or even worse, putting the camera down somewhere). As soon as they're in position, grab the camera at your side and shoot.I also bought the low profile connector Black Rapid FastenR-T1 which combines with a Manfrotto Quick Release plate and allows you to go immediately from the R-Strap to a tripod. If you only need your camera to hand for a short while or working in a studio, I could maybe see this as an expensive luxury. However, if you're on the go all day or all evening, this is a huge benefit.

A simple but effective piece of kit.
Having looked at online footage of this product in use I had a pretty good idea what it was. Yes it is pricey, but with the pound weak and this is an import it is not surprising. The key thing for me was, did it do what the video suggested? The answer was yes, and therefore I can't complain about the price. I find it much more comfortable to carry even a big lens around on my D300s, and it is easy to bring the camera into shooting position. The screw-gate karabiner seems to give a solid and reassuring connection to the camera. For me it has been worth the money.

Expensive for what it is, but very very good !
Firstly I mostly agree with Alun's review. When I opened the packaging I must admit i felt a little "overcharged" for this product. However, I found the "build" quality to be very high, and the strap is very easy to adjust. There isnt really much detail to go into here .... at the end of the day its just a strap ! A very expensive strap....I did feel alot better after fitting the strap to my camera with one of my larger lenses (d90 with grip, and a sigma 150 - 500).This is possibly the most comfortable and practical strap I have ever used. Now I dont feel so bad for spending so much on this item.Highly recommended if you have a heavy camera / lens combo and you are likely to be walking around with it for a few hours.

Come on! We need more than hype
from Dyserth, North Wales
After following this so-called "revolutionary" strap on YouTube etc, I was very pleased when I saw that WarehouseExpress would be stocking it. I ordered the RS-4 straight away and it went on backorder but a week later it arrived together with the optional stabiliser strap.I really couldn't have felt more used!! This really is a very averagely put together product. The materials don't scream "quality" exactly and when I think that I paid £17 (!) for the stabiliser strap for which I think £6 would be too much and SIXTY QUID for basically a length of plastic webbing, a small screw carabiner and a metal plug it really did make me angry. Its not WarehouseExpress's fault as I'm sure the slick American marketing also includes price fixing across all suppliers. This really should only sell for £30 topsThis is the first review that I've EVER written about a piece of equipment either here or any website but I really am that moved to complain ;-(
