Excellent Kits for small venues/low key

Comments about Bowens Gemini 200/200 Twin Head Studio Kit:
I use the 200 set up from my small home studio and I will use this as my client site kit, the light kits is perfect as I don't have masses of room, small reliable and produces strong enough and defining light. Highly recommend to all with a home or mobile set-up or wanting to do low key too.The bag it comes in though is too heavy if you do not have transport (I live in London so use public transport as much as possible). Albeit the bag is strong and secure, I think all bowens bags should come with wheels, I shall be purchasing the wheeled bags as they make a world of difference.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Only getting started into the studio photography world. As budget improves I will probably invest in higher spec Bowens but these work great for now.

Standing up to professional event use
The units and accessories are of an excellent quality compared to my older no-name kit. This model doesn't have all the extra features but do their basic job perfectly, repeatedly and reliably. We recently used two pairs at fast-paced awards ceremonies and they didn't miss a beat.Power levels are great for portrait studio work. You may not realise lights can be too powerful as well as too weak. 200ws is the right amount for my work. Frankly, I'm not bothered about paying extra for remote control, extra knobs, etc, etc.

Very good quality - good value too.
I spent quite a lot of time shopping around for which lights to buy. I used to shoot with a pair of Bowens MonoSilver lights which eventually died after around 15 years of service, and replaced the with a pair of non-brand chinese lights as they were cheap and times were tough. The chinese lights are still going but are not great. So I spent some time debating whether to get a lesser brand with a higher output but I am so so glad I got these.First of all lets talk about what you get in the kit - this has to be good value for money - if you add up the cost of buying all these bits separately it's at least a saving of £200 I reckon...Now the quality - it's outstanding - very sturdy, very well made. I was surprised at the bag it came in - very strong quality bag - if you bought a bag like that on it's own you could easily spend £100 on it. It has trolley wheels at one end, quality handles, zips and padded lining - all very very good.In use I think it's fair to say that you won't use the 5 stops of adjustment as you will be on a higher power setting most of the time, but saying that in my studio, lighting both on full power shooting a subject 4 meters away from the lights, bouncing them back off the umbrellas (so loosing some power there) I get a very useable f/11 (iso 100)All in all I am very impressed with the lights, and hope they give as many years of service as my old MonoSilver's did, although I do wish I had gone for the 400 W/s version (budget would not stretch)

Excellent build quality from Bowens naturally, thus not cheap.I already have a set of 400/400 twin head studio lights from Bowens, but I use these new lights for background lighting on white backgrounds.I did think about buying a cheap set, but I am glad I didn't in the end. These will last, and have a fast charge rate, unlike Chinese copies.
