Three 7000 hour cool-running lamps. combined with the detachable white reflector, deliver a wide, soft and even output equivalent to 330w of tungsten light. Ideal for subjects that can be adversly affected by heat such as food or even close-up portraits. The Streamlite 330 is supplied complete with an elasticated diffuser to soften the light further.

Well made quality lighting

Having worked commercially with photographic lighting for years, I have long been aware that despite the advantages of flash lighting, tungsten has always been first choice where the lighting is particularly complicated or precise. Modelling lights on studio flash are always at best an approximation of where the actual light from the flash tube will fall or look.
Until recently the draw back with tungsten has been the warm colour balance and the excessive heat. This can be a real problem not only for the comfort of all involved in a shoot, especially in confined areas, but the precarious situation of being surrounded by miniature furnaces waiting to severely burn anyone who might inadvertently touch them.
The Bowens Streamlites run relatively cool with full daylight balance. They are relatively compact, light, easily positioned, and they are well made. As the whole light costs no more than a good flashgun, I personally feel it offers good value.
However, if you work mainly with people photography and use extensively soft even lighting, then a studio flash is likely to be a better alternative.
