    Pros

    • Fast start up no waiting

    Cons

    • Software a bit basic

    Best Uses

    • All good

Good scanner as mentioned by previous posts but all software bundled was out of date so had to download all new for Mac OS 10.7.3 unfortunately silverFast was so out of date i may have to purchase it separately. Though works well with VueScan. Lid lifts high for large books. Nice quick buttons on the front. Large but not as large as I had expected. Faster than I had been given to believe. Did 250 Neg Slides Today on the standard setting and came out well just a little colour correction on some very bad poorly exposed ones with some light cleaning and sharpening. All in all I'me very happy bunny Its no Epson V750 but you get a lot for your money with this unit at half the cost.P.S. [...]

    Pretty good Scanner

    By Scan Man

    from Hampshire

    Pros

    • Comprehensive software
    • Quick Startup
    • Will also scan 120 negs

    Cons

    • Flimsy Neg Holders
    • It's BIG

    Best Uses

Had best results when using it with[...]software. Did not get on with the bundled [...](that might be me as have been using [...] for ages). For fast, fuss free scans the supplied Canon software isn't bad if you're in a hurry. Don't expect to get the same supersharp results that a dedicated film scanner will produce. My old [...]is still sharper (at a lower resolution) but this unit does seem to produce accurate colours and scans quicker, plus it can scan 120 negs also. The iR channel works quite well in helping to remove dust and damage from negs & slides. When scanning old prints, the results are superb. I have just re-scanned some very old photo's and the level of detail extracted is amazing. I would recommend this unit highly but don't get rid of your dedicated film scanner just yet.

      Good value film scanner

      By longpastit

      from Dunoon

      Pros

      • Choice of software
      • Relatively quick scans
      • Up to 12 negatives a time

      Cons

      • Large size
      • No APS sized holders
      • Only 4 slides a time

      Best Uses

      • Set and leave to work

A relatively low cost but productive film scanner which can produce good quality results. The bundled Silverfast software is fairly easy to use once you realise that you don't need to use all the belts and whistles.

      • Incredible value for mone

      Cons

      Best Uses

      • Get out your old negs

Is really excellent at scanning old black and whites, negatives, colour photos and newspaper articles. Quick and quiet. Did not like silverfast software (bundled with it) - don't use it. Use Vuescan to scan old 127 negatives which Canon's negative holder didn't fit.
