£160 Cashback! The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens delievers higher image quality at the wide-angle end, enhancing optical performance, resolution and contrast. This lens is a high performance, water-resistant, and ultra wide-angle L-series lens. The optical design has been improved to offer better edge-to-edge image quality. In addition, it also features 3 high-precision aspherical lens elements, each of a different type: ground, replica and GMo. Improved AF algorithms will help the lens to focus faster and quieter. All of the "L" lenses deliver optical performance equal to similar fixed focal lengths lenses, and the USM lenses do this with silent, high-speed focusing. Distortions and aberrations are remarkably small for a lens of such amazing capabilities. As this lens features a Canon EF (Electro-Focus) lens mount, you can use this lens on a Canon full-frame camera (Such as the 1D X, 5D Mk III, 6D etc.) and a cropped sensor (APS-C) camera with EF-S mount (EG. 350D, 7D, 550D, 60D etc.). L (Luxury) -series quality
The L-series is Canon's flagship professional lens range, representing the best in precision-designed EF optics. L-series lenses combine superior performance with superlative handling, and are resistant to dust and moisture.
Constant f/2.8 aperture
A fast f/2.8 maximum aperture stays constant over the full focal-length range, meaning no variation in shutter speed will occur when zooming.
A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.
Smooth background blur
A virtually circular aperture diaphragm gives out of focus regions a softer, more uniform feel. Sharp foreground objects stand out against a smooth blurred background.
UD and aspherical elements
The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM incorporates three aspherical elements to ensure corner-to-corner sharpness and clarity throughout the focal range. Two UD (Ultra Low Dispersion) elements virtually eliminate chromatic aberrations.
Super Spectra coating
Super Spectra coatings ensure accurate colour balance and enhance contrast. They also reduce flare and ghosting – a common problem caused by light bouncing off a camera's sensor.
Integration with E-TTL II flash metering
Ensures optimal flash metering by passing distance information back to a compatible EOS camera's E-TTL II flash system.
The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens comes supplied with a lens hood and soft case.

Upgrade from 17-40mm f/4

Comments about Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8 L MKII USM Lens:
Replaced my 17-40 to get the extra aperture. The lens is only a wee bit larger; but the results seem sharper, even wide open in the corners. I've used this for a few landscapes and indoor groups; it will handhold quite happily down to 1/10 without IS. It came with the newer pinch-type cap, which makes life easier with hood and filter on. Only negative comment is the use of plastic on some body parts; it seems expensive but the results make it a worthwhile upgrade.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me Professional
I had a Sigma wide angle previously that broke after several years so decided to upgrade and the difference was massive. I shoot both events and landscape it this was perfect for both. Totally crisp with solid build. It's now my staple lens above my old 24-70

And I used to love my 17 - 35mm
My 17 - 35 showing its age on the 5D MK3, so I bought this. Out of the bag I loved the feel, smooth focus, easy zoom, light weight, beautiful crisp clean images, with really good contrast.A very good wide angle zoom from Canon. Here is an image from my last wedding, using the 16 mm - 35mm. Shot at f2.8 at 16mm. Canon 5D mk3Wish I had bought this sooner.

Awesome lens, would highly recommend this lens. I was debating between the 16-35mm and the 24-70. I am not disappointed with my choice, I will probably get the 24-70, but at the moment I am loving this lens

perfect sharp landscape lens.
Awesome wide angle lens
By Clive B
Probably the best performing wide angle zoom lens I have ever owned, produces pin sharp edge to edge images with minimal lens artifacts. Should be in every landscape photographers bag of kit.
I use it for Landscape and Buildings, it has been a great success
a worthy upgrade
The previous version of this lens lasted 8 years of hard professional use. The new version feels every bit as robust, focusses slightly quicker and has better edge to edge sharpness - highly reccomended.

I bought this lens as I needed a wider option than 24mm offerd by my 24-70 and 24-105. It replaces my sigma 12-24 which has broken twice and the focus has never been very reliable. It is not as wide as the 12mm but I don't mind - it focuses quickly and reliably in all the situations I have used it in so far. I can't comment on durability as I have only had it a month but if it is anything like my other L series lenses I am sure it will last for years. Expensive - but you get what you pay for!

briliant wide angle perfect for weddings
By David [@]
This is a replacement for my very old 17-35 f2.8L which had a knock And it's so much better. You'll get a little bit of distortion at the edges of the frame at 16mm but this is such a great lens for weddings, the getting ready shots in cramped hotel rooms, and general reportage and it was a real get out of jail lens on saturday for a PR job in a scrum around an althlete - couldn't have done the shot with the 24-70 and wouldn't have been as sharp with the old 17-35
