I got this lens for xmas as an upgrade to the kit lens that came with my camera.

So far I think its excellent and I love the fact that I can shoot at f2.8 all through the zoom range.

It is quite heavy but it feels really well built which i guess you expect with a pro lens.

Im definitely glad I spent the money on it and more importantly it has improved the pictures im taking.

As a professional wedding photographer, I need something that can provide fantastic low light performance, incredibly sharp images and fast focus. The 24-70 meets every criteria for me and will continue to be my weapon of choice at weddings!

But, not only that, it's fantastic for family photos too, chasing your kid around the playground, and no matter how much they are moving, you'll get a crystal clear picture everytime!

All is this is great, but to go with this, i've got the 5d mk 2 to make things even better!

I say, buy it! You won't regret it! Plus even in a couple of years, it won't be worth much less than you paid now!

Solid general purpose lense, great build quality, f2.8 is great for low light and nice bokeh with 8 aperture blades. Would benefit from IS in some situations.

Bought this lens from WEX roughly 6 months ago, at the same time I was changing my other kit around & this was bought to be used with a Canon 5dmk2.

Upon unboxing of the lens, it was obvious that it was extremely well put together. The focusing ring and zoom ring work extremely smoothly. Being a fixed F2.8 lens with the L series solid construction means that weight is a factor with this lens, this is definitely not a light one, but it does balance well on a 5d2. Weight is quickly forgotten about when you remember that you have access to the constant f2.8 throughout the zoom range. After getting used to it I personally love the handling of the lens as it simply feels solid but it might be too heavy for some.

My uses for this lens are either every day shots, studio work, or motorsport or action sports. It focuses quickly and is extremely sharp at f2.8 without having to stop it down at all. Even coupled with the slow af and the low fps of 5d2 it still captures the action brilliantly, quantity over quality hehe.

All in all I think this lens was worth every penny I paid and has added itself as a fantastic tool to my setup.

A stunning piece of glass, i would say the must buy lens for all canon kits. I recently moved over to all primes so no longer have this lens but i do miss it..

Brought this lens as the main upgrade from my kit lens & has not dissappointed me yet.
The f2.8 gives so much scope whether throwing the background out or just really low light situations giving great results.
It is on the heavy side but the construction is solid which is expected for a pro lens.
Definitely worth the investment.

I love this lens. If you are after a versatile zoom, then look no further. Constant 2.8 is really lovely in a lens that covers a wide-to-medium zoom range.

Some people debate whether they need 2.8, but I think they are kidding themselves. The practical applications of 2.8 will allow you to create images - creative exposures - that are not possible with a slower lens.

Many of the reviewers have listed the weight of the lens as a con but it feels well balanced on my gripped 5D Mark II.
