The Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II USM lens features a redesigned optical system that delivers incredible results. A high-performance fluorite element is combined with five ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements to reduce chromatic aberration and producing high-contrast, sharp images. An inbuilt Image Stabiliser mechanism reduces the effect of camera shake in lower light environments. More
The L-series is Canon's flagship professional lens range, representing the best in precision-designed EF optics. L-series lenses combine superior performance with superlative handling, and are resistant to dust and moisture.
Fast, constant maximum aperture
Shoot hand held in low light conditions thanks to a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture, which stays constant throughout the zoom range. Such an aperture also gives a photographer control over depth of field.
Canon’s four-stop Image Stabilizer (IS) makes the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM ideal for shooting in low light conditions when using a tripod is not possible. The IS system allows shutter speeds up to four stops slower than normal to be used without causing image blur.
Fluorite and ultra-low dispersion (UD) lens elements
The lens features elements made from fluorite, which reduce chromatic aberration. Five UD (ultra-low dispersion) elements are used to ensure high contrast and natural colour reproduction throughout the zoom range.
Smooth background blur
A virtually circular aperture diaphragm gives out of focus regions a softer, more uniform feel. Sharp foreground objects stand out against a smooth blurred background.
A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.
The lens is supplied as standard with the ET-87 lens hood to prevent glare affecting images, as well as a removable tripod mount and soft case.

An incredible bit of glass
About Me Semi-Professional
Comments about Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II USM Lens:
OK, admission, I didn't buy a new one ... years ago I had the pre-IS version of this lens and it was truly the best bit of glass I've slapped in front of a camera. Well, until this one ... OK, technically it's probably similar glass, but the focusing and IS on this are frighteningly good, and I'm not the only one who thinks that, I was mulling around whether to go for Mk 1 or Mk 2 and asked a bunch of the sports photographers I once "competed" with. There wasn't any ambiguity in the response and, now I've got one, I get it ... this thing is incredible.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
The best about this lens it looks great on your camera, images are first class and focus is fast and accurate. I have owned this lens now for about 2 years and i love it. I would recomend investing in a good strap like the RS as the lens and camera weighs a ton.
Would recommend excellent

Canon's Best Lens (Probably)
About Me Professional
This lens has to be the best in its class. I owned the predecessor, 70-200 f2.8, and for years it was my favourite Canon lens. It proved utterly versatile, from weddings to commercial shoots, portraits and landscapes too. Given this, was a move to the Mark 11 really worth the money? Having made the switch, I'd have to say the answer is yes - to a level that has surprised me. The stabilising system has been improved, making it even more capable at slower shutter speeds by about an extra stop. The entire build is rock solid, dust and weather sealed, so great in all conditions. My work is often outdoors in tricky conditions. But most crucially, it delivers crystal clear, sharp images time and again. It simply has exceptional optics, faster and more accurate focussing. Just one problem: the weight of this lens! It's not easy to hulk around over long periods and long distances, so some strategic planning is needed. I console myself with the promise of the quality it produces and my need to keep fit. I use the lens interchangeably on a 5D Mark 111 and on the 7D Mark 11, adding extra distance to the zoom with no extra effort. In short, all l

Outstanding (if a bit heavy)

Extremely well constructed, yes it is a little heavy but it feels like it can easily take the everyday abuse of wedding and sport photography. This lens focuses nice and fast and the images are tack sharp. I have no complaints with this lens. It's a must have.
Must Have Lens
A must have lens for any photographer. One of the most adaptable lenses for any type of photography from sports to portrait
Great Lens..bit heavy
my only issue is its weight but i knew that before i bought it.. I also use it with the Canon Extender EF 2x III.

I would definitely recommend this lens
I have used this lens for shooting motorcycle racing, portraiture and landscape and it has been excellent in every aspect, it is a brilliantly sharp lens even at very wide apertures the autofocus is lightning fast and the tracing of fast moving subjects it really accurate. The wide f2.8 aperture has been a massive advantage enabling me to shoot fast moving action in low light without having to pump up the ISO. I am very pleased that I spent the extra on the f2.8 over the f4 it was a lot more expensive but in my opinion a very worthwhile investment.
