£235 Cashback! The Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II USM Lens features a re-designed optical system that delivers incredible results. A high-performance fluorite element is combined with five ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements to reduce chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range and producing high contrast images with edge-to-edge definition. The lens is equipped with a ring-type USM AF motor and a high-speed CPU that makes auto-focusing both faster and quieter. The updated Image Stabilizer mechanism offers a shutter speed advantage equivalent to four-stops, reducing the effect of camera shake in lower light environments. The mount, focus mode switch & focusing ring all feature a dust and drip-proof structure that prevents dust or water from getting inside the lens & camera when used with accompanying weatherproof EOS bodies, making it a highly durable, reliable lens for use day-to-day by professional photographers. This lens is suitable for use with both full-frame & cropped sensor (APS-C) cameras. More

The L-series is Canon's flagship professional lens range, representing the best in precision-designed EF optics. L-series lenses combine superior performance with superlative handling, and are resistant to dust and moisture.
Fast, constant maximum aperture
Shoot hand held in low light conditions thanks to a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture, which stays constant throughout the zoom range. Such an aperture also gives a photographer control over depth of field.
Canon’s four-stop Image Stabilizer (IS) makes the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM ideal for shooting in low light conditions when using a tripod is not possible. The IS system allows shutter speeds up to four stops slower than normal to be used without causing image blur.
Fluorite and ultra-low dispersion (UD) lens elements
The lens features elements made from fluorite, which reduce chromatic aberration. Five UD (ultra-low dispersion) elements are used to ensure high contrast and natural colour reproduction throughout the zoom range.
Smooth background blur
A virtually circular aperture diaphragm gives out of focus regions a softer, more uniform feel. Sharp foreground objects stand out against a smooth blurred background.
A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.
The lens is supplied as standard with the ET-87 lens hood to prevent glare affecting images, as well as a removable tripod mount and soft case.

Excellent work-horse lens
This lens is a no-brainer purchase, funds permitting of course. If you're making a living from your images and are working in an area where you need focal lengths of this type then no doubt you already own this lens or an earlier version - and if you don't then it's an absolute must-have in my opinion.Obviously it's not cheap, hence the reason that I started my business with the f4 non-IS version costing around £500 and only upgraded when this mark II version of the f2.8 lens was released. Once I could justify the expense, it was an easy decision to make. All in all, it's a brilliant lens. I find it sharper at the 200mm end than it is at 70mm, but on a full frame body I find I'm at 200mm most of the time for portraiture work anyway. The IS system is great should you need low-light assistance and I've also had good experience with the mode 2 IS for panning moving subjects.Great bit of kit. Get one.

Not as perfect as many claim
About Me Semi-Professional
The lens gives beautiful results a lot of the time, but it shows bad vignetting when used on a full-frame camera like my 5D mk ii. This is apparently a well-known problem, but for me it smacks of my buying a Rolls Royce and getting the performance of a Citroen 2CV.The whole point of this lens is to use it at the wide f2.8 aperture. It seems that, like the professionals, I'll just have to work round the problem by stopping down as much as possible and regarding this major downside as something to be shrugged off. Canon, I am unimpressed!

Although it is a little heavy, it is without doubt a quality bit of kit, and I've now got one :o)

Having borrowed one of these lenses on several occasions, I eventually managed to purchase one of my own, and it's worth every penny just as I knew it would be. Superbly sharp image quality with a generally quick focus time, this lens produces nothing short of gorgeous images. I just wish I'd got one sooner!
Simply the Best

Like many, I debated about the price on this lens, after using it for a short time in all weather conditions I have found it is another case of "You get what you pay for" – to say it is the best L series zoom I have ever used or possessed is pulling this lens down, it is truly magnificent & using it on a EOS 1Ds mk3 it appears to outperform some of the prime lenses I own. – if you want a medium telephoto lens for you Canon & can afford the outlay, then don't even think about it, Just buy one, I know you won't be disappointed., Focus & sharpness of this lens is just out of this world –with this one canon has done us proud..
Expensive but worth it
Works very well with the Canon MKIII 2X extender

Totally unexpected improvement
About Me Casual user
As a hobby photographer the cost of this lens was daunting, however all the reviews I could find and all the research on the internet were so positive that I took the plunge. I have not been disappointed, in fact the lens has exceeded all my (already high) expectations. The clarity, colours and sharpness of this lens is beyond anything I have ever experienced. My first outing with the lens was to a local hill climb event - the results were incredible - only about 4 poor shots from over 200 and this was my first attempt at panning and action shots on fast moving cars.I highly reccomend this lens.

If your thinking about getting one of these, then have no fear buy one. Yes it does cost a fair bit but I think its worth every penny. Its incredibly sharp, and can give some amazing images even in low light conditions. Yes it's got a bit of weight to it, I use the tripod mount as a handle when using it. I wouldn't say it was too heavy. I cannot fault this lens and have absolutely no regrets in buying it.
