With its ability to focus life-size images onto the image sensor, the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM offers true macro performance in the EF-S lens series. Having an effective focal length of approximately 96mm in 35mm format, it produces breathtaking close-up results. A minimum focusing distance of just 20cm gets you super close to your subject, filling your frame only with the subject detail you require. Its near-silent Ultra Sonic Motor provides super-fast precision auto-focusing with full-time manual override. This EF-S lens is for use with Canon DSLRs with a cropped APS-C sensor, such as the Canon 100D, 1200D, 70D, 7D etc. This lens is not suitable for full-frame cameras, such as the 5D Mark II/III, EOS 6D, 1D X. A world in miniature
The EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM works in harmony with EF-S mount EOS cameras to let you explore an exciting new photographic dimension. Nature photographers will delight in the ability to capture the intricate beauty of tiny features. With capacity to reproduce an image on the sensor as large as the subject itself, you will take your audience on a journey inside a magnificent miniature world.
Portrait photographers will enjoy working with the large aperture, which narrows depth of field and creates beautiful background blur, making your subject stand out with dramatic effect.
The EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM adds enormous versatility to your kit while adding little weight. Its near-silent Ultra Sonic Motor provides super-fast precision auto-focusing with full-time manual override.
Resolution and quality
Over 60 years of optical engineering has gone into producing a lens that delivers exacting picture quality standards. Canon lens technologies combine to produce high corner-to-corner resolution, brightness, contrast and balanced colour reproduction throughout all focusing distances.
Built for digital
Designed specifically for digital photography, the lens has specially shaped lens elements with Super Spectra coatings to suppress ghosting and flare, which can be caused by reflections off the camera sensor. An exclusive optional lens hood further reduces the risk of flare.

Good quality but focal length a bit short for bug photos
I have this lens, and two Canon zooms that cover the same focal range - 18-55 and 18-135. It's a prime lens so the pictures are sharper than either of the zooms, so if I were doing landscape photography I would probably use this one.I bought it for macro photography - bugs - and tbh the focal length is quite short, you have to get quite close to the bugs, and they don't stay still, I found the Sigma 150mm macro lens much more practical (but a lot heavier and at least twice the price). But the pictures I got with this are excellent. Canon produce their own Digital Photo Professional software for downloading and working on images - if you shoot in RAW, this includes a Digital Lens Optimiser in the tool palette - you can download corrections for most of the canon lenses, so you can fix things like chromatic aberration at the touch of a button.

Fantastic macro lens
I use the lens for macro work for flowers and insects especially. It is great for getting lots of detail and I don't think there is anything bad about it, it's a fantastic lens.

Nice lens for the money.
Great for taking botanical subjects.
Excellent from 20cms to infinity
Initially bought this lens for macro but since buying it I've hardly had it off the camera, I'll use 16-35mm and 17-85mm lenses for landscapes and 100-400mm when needed, this has really surprised me.Only thing that had me confused at first was it wouldn't focus but a flick of the switch sorted that

About Me Professional
The defintion achievable with this lens is perfect, very good on flowers and insects. Use a tripod and remote release cable. Some situations work better if you disable the auto focus function and do the focus manually
