The Canon EF 25mm Extension Tube II is used to allow a lens to focus closer than it dwould normally. This is accomplished by moving the lens 25mm farther away from the camera body's film plane or digital sensor by fitting between the camera body and the lens. Extension tubes are thus commonly used for macro photography and sometimes for closeup portraits and when using the camera's TTL metering system, no exposure compensation will be required. This updated version II is now also fully compatible with Canon Digital EF-S mount, as well as standard photo EF and TS-E fittings. Extension Tube EF 25 II is recommended for focal lengths of 50mm and up (EF-S 18-55mm can be used at middle and tele zoom settings).

Comments about Canon EF25 II Extension Tube:

This device allowed me an inroad into macro photography without the expense of purchasing a dedicated macro lens. Although expensive in comparison with some third party offerings it has the usual solid Canon construction and works faultlessly with my 70-200mm lens. Fiddlier to mount and demount but no more so than an extender. This is a new area for me and I am still experimenting with best practise but I have obtained some very pleasing results so far. I still feel it is expensive for an empty tube.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

More sense than a macro lens

        By Reaction

        from Cardiff

        Pros

        • Top quality
        • Versatile

        Cons

        • Expensive for what it is

        Best Uses

Comments about Canon EF25 II Extension Tube:

If you can't justify spending hundreds on a macro lens, this extension tube allows any Canon lens to produce extraordinary close-ups of tiny objects with no loss of quality. And if you get other lenses in the future, you can still use the extension tube with those too. Yes, it is overpriced (like every other Canon SLR product or accessory) but in my opinion is a much better idea than spending hundreds on a dedicated macro lens that you might rarely use. Versatile, light, much more sensible than a 3-tube kit, and full Canon quality.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Canon EF25 II Extension Tube:

I bought this to use when travelling light with my 70-200 F4 and negate the need for a dedicated macro lens. It works a treat, at 70mm working distance is very close (too close probably :-)) and by 200mm it is about a half meter.

Quality is excellent and while it doesn't give true 1:1 macro capabilities, it is very nice for bugs, butterflies etc.

My only gripe was the price is a bit steep for a bit of air!
