The Canon EF 25mm Extension Tube II is used to allow a lens to focus closer than it would normally. This is accomplished by moving the lens 25mm farther away from the camera body's film plane or digital sensor by fitting between the camera body and the lens. Extension tubes are thus commonly used for macro photography and sometimes for closeup portraits and when using the camera's TTL metering system, no exposure compensation will be required. This updated version II is now also fully compatible with Canon Digital EF-S mount, as well as standard photo EF and TS-E fittings. Extension Tube EF 25 II is recommended for focal lengths of 50mm and up (EF-S 18-55mm can be used at middle and tele zoom settings). More
Canon produces tubes in two different lengths - 12mm and 25mm. The EF12 and EF25 tubes come with electrical contacts which allow data transfer between the lens and camera to be maintained. It is possible to attach the EF12 tube to the EF25 tube to give a 37mm extension. Canon does not recommend this, as the data transfer may be affected, but acceptable results are possible if you are willing to experiment.

Comments about Canon EF25 II Extension Tube:
Having used the cheaper alternatives to Canon extension tubes I can honestly say that "you really do get what you pay for". OK they are expensive but there is no comparison to the cheap substituted
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

An excellent piece of kit. Very useful and well constructed. I'd have given it 5 stars had it been cheaper. It is a tad expensive for what it is.

I would recommend this product
By Squid Diddly
I bought this item to use with a Canon 100mm macro lens I had bought earlier this year. While I am pleased with the macro lens it didn't make the small insects I had planned to photograph big enough in the frame. This does the job perfectly. Some reviews have said the price for this item is high for " a piece of air " but it is a genuine piece of Canon kit that fits exactly and syncs with your Canon lens and body " exactly". Worth every penny.

The Canon 25mm Extension Tube allows you to turn a fast Standard Lens into a fast Macro lens, something that is not generally available.I use this product to take closeup shots in very poor light. The tube is structurally robust, which is essential in this application.THe drawback is that the focussing range, (or the magnification range) is extremely limited, so you need to know exactly what your subject will be before you set out.

Macro photography at an affordable price
By Bryn H
This device allowed me an inroad into macro photography without the expense of purchasing a dedicated macro lens. Although expensive in comparison with some third party offerings it has the usual solid Canon construction and works faultlessly with my 70-200mm lens. Fiddlier to mount and demount but no more so than an extender. This is a new area for me and I am still experimenting with best practise but I have obtained some very pleasing results so far. I still feel it is expensive for an empty tube.

Great for use in conjunction with a 50mm prime or zoom. This will take you into a whole new world without having to invest heavily.
