November 2011 - "Yesterday I was given the opportunity to play with a Canon EOS-1D X. It was still one of the factory sample camera bodies so I wasn’t allowed to analyze the image or video quality. However, I was able to test out the new controls and experiment with many of the new features and functions." Read more about the Canon EOS 1D X here...

Comments about Canon EOS 1D X Digital SLR Camera Body:
Canon have certainly got a winner with the 1Dx. I cannot fault this camera. The AF system is superb and can be totally customised to your specific genre/style. the low light performance is also a great feature of this camera ISO800 is virtually noiseless, ISO3200 is very usable
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Expensive but Fantastic
See all my reviews
My 1D4 is now the 2nd body and hasnt been used since I got the 1DX.Cant believe the high ISO performance of this camera, at 1600 I can see no noise at all, in the right light even 3200 shows nothing. The high ISO and fps were the main reasons I picked this camera. The AF settings can be a bit daunting, so many settings, the upside is the camera offers info explanations of each setting on the LCD.Love the fact I can easily and very quickly change the focus points in landscape & portrait orientation.

Best 35mm Camera ever owned

About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast, Professional
The full frame sensor is supurb, producing quality images with little effort.Portrait photos are excellent as well as landscape photos as and when I want to relax and enjoy taking photos rather than as a profession.I have yet to use it at sporting events, however I am sure the speed will be more than adquote especially with the high ISO abilities.

Confidence to get the picture
By disco dave
Having spent the prvious years of the digital age using camera's which cropped the image it was refreshing to use a full frame camera getting back to the film age. The high quality of high ISO images takes away the concern of inadequate lighting at lower league venues. I like to shoot at f2.8 under floodlights, this camera gives me the shutter speed to match my requirements with great image quality. This camera is a big leap forward from previous models

About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
I upgraded from a 7d to this camera and to start off with i was a little scared of the camera but after a week or so everything on the camera has became second nature to me. so easy to use (once you have mastered it)all the review in magazines have been saying about it ONLY havinga 18 mega pixel sensor but thats more that you will every need for 99% of situations.the camera is big but it feels so good in your hand and once twinned with a lens like a 70-200 the balance is perfect.

Does what it says on the box!
By scottish lady
This is one fantastic camera - worth the money simply for its low noise at high iso, super fast focussing and very accurate. Love the 'info' button when first looking at all the menus in camera - very helpful. Was able to work out how to set up the focussing. Was able to set up the camera the way I wanted it for an event the very next day - and it performed faultlessly! Was worried it might be too heavy but the feel and balance is perfect. The results speak for themselves too - high quality images capable of huge cropping if required. Am in 7th heaven!

Canon 1DX - well worth the wait
By Dodgy Rodge
from South Wales
After a long wait, it arrived on a saturday morning. I had a quick look, but because of time pressures, could not use it during the day. I found ten minutes to set up the initial details and went straight to an evening presentation where I used it with flash on manual settings with auto ISO - absolutely brilliant results. Since then I haven't looked back and I suspect it will often be the only camera I need to take. I can't fault it other than the lack of a fold out screen which would have been invaluable for product and macro photography using a low tripod...
