I upgraded to the 5D MII after upgrading my 550D kit lenses to L series. The 550D and kit lenses are capable of excellent results, but the L series lenses (100-400 & 17-40) gave the first leap in quality. I wasn't sure how much difference full frame would make in addition, but am now in no doubt. Good shots are simpler easier to obtain; the colour rendition is superb, and for much of my nature photography, where some or a lot of cropping is often inevitable, the results are frequently beyond all my expectations. Wildlife taken several hundred yards away looks as if it's in the back garden.

Quite simply, superb.

Upgraded from a 600d and have never looked back. Quality camera and feels great in your hands. Picture quality is awesome.

Just make sure you've got decent lenses to go with it!

This was the second 5d mk2 I've owned, the first (also from wex) is still going great after 170000 exposures. Too many pros to list, too many uses to list, simply a fantastic camera.

Having toyed for a long time about stepping into the full frame game i had my eye on the 5d MK 11 for a long long time and watched it slowly drop in price ...The main reason I waited so long was the reviews, despite raving what a cracking camera it was at the same time they seemed to constantly be putting down the auto focus..Well when wex emailed me and said there was a one day sale with two hundred quid off it that kind of made the decision for me and I bought the MK 11 and have no regrets at all...Unless really fast action is your thing I doubt you even notice the auto focus without a faster camera alonside to compare it to...Absolutely cracking camera..Superb image quality and at the risk of sounding corny..Cracking deal and Service from Wex Photography...Very pleased indeed.

As the title suggests, I ended up buying this camera about 7 times before making the final click to say 'pay now', and I just wished I had done it much sooner. Coming from a 600D background, I was simply excited about how this would improve the quality of my photography and in a few shutters, I can honestly say I am really impressed. So much so that I wished I had this as my first camera now.

The camera has a weight that I would profess was a surprise, but then makes you feel like you have a piece of quality equipment in your hands. The controls are easy to access (though it did take me a few more minutes to work out that the ON/OFF switch has a 3rd position to activate the back wheel!) which allows for adjustments to be made without having to take your eye off the viewfinder.

The quality of the image is outstanding and even though I am learning the intricacies of the focussing system, have produced some amazing results. The menu system is simple and accessible for personal customisation with the LCD being easy to read, especially with the auto brightness function enabled.

Overall, an excellent camera body that when coupled with a L lens produces some amazing results. This camera will be used lots.

I bought this camera as a backup body to my 1DS MK3. At first the camera felt a bit less robust as the 1 series cameras but image quality is superb. The large rear LCD is brilliant and all the controls are within easy reach. All in all, a great camera.

Superb adaptability and flexibility - great successor to the Mark I. Combined with Canon "L" series lenses one of the best available. Build quality is outstanding. The "picture styles" are slightly strange (they appear also on the 7D)and its not clear how they operate as some of the tweaks are not straightforward menu operations. Menus - accessibility and usefulness - great advance from Mark I - layout now very like 7D - 3 "custom settings" are incredibly useful. Have been using 5D mark II for wildlife photography with 100 - 400 ES f4.5 L and for landscape work at the other end of things with 35mm L series prime and a 50mm Sigma prime. I must say that the results with the Sigma have been more than acceptable - a great combination for mid-view shots (I was a very pleasantly surprised - the 50mm has proved great value for money). Results with the 35 mm need no comment - what a lens. The "user guide" is a bit of a pain - but only because you need to work through it and to experiment with the various things with the camera in hand, but all of the info is there but it IS a technical document, That said there are a lot of good helpful books available from the usual sources. I have found that there is a lot of advantage to be gained in using the micro-AF adjustment facility. Load up the EOS software and follow the instructions for using the PC /camera combo to tweak the AF and get a good quality focussing target (there are a few out there). You might be surprised... 3 of my L series lenses needed a tweak - and these are not the same ones, nor the same tweaks as with my 7D body. Results show pay off - a very quick "grab shot" with lens 400mmm after this mucking about was bang in focus and that had not happened before. I confess that I have no interest in video (HD or otherwise) so cannot comment. I'm afraid I've never taken a movie in my life. BUT at the moment with the release of the Mark III the price of the Mark II will never get any lower I figure (which I why I waited for the III release) - and I can't see anything convincing that the III could offer over the II that would be worth shelling out a huge amount more. I've waited to get this for a while - could not be happier.
