The Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR Camera Body follows on from the highly specified 5D Mark II but with the addition of a few new, much needed enhancements. The 5D Mark III is aimed at the semi-pro and professional level photographers who desire a lightweight, weather-proof construction, outstanding image quality and impressive levels of speed. The 5D Mark III features a high-resolution 22.3 CMOS sensor and Canon’s powerful DIGIC 5+ processor to ensure a lightning fast frame rate of 6 frames per second. A 61-point AF system (41 cross-types) and an expandable ISO range from 50-102,400 ensures both static and fast moving subjects can be captured, even in dimly lit environments. The Canon EOS 5D Mark III can also record Full HD 1080p movies with stereo sound and full manual control, and the 3.5mm mic and headphone socket allows audio monitoring while recording. More
November 2012 - I am a full time professional wedding photographer. I shoot with a combination of cameras, notably the Fuji X-Pro1 and the 5D range of cameras from Canon. The 5D2 was the first full frame body I owned and I ended up working my way through three of them. So, when the 5D3 was announced I was really quite excited about it. We caught up with David Parry at Focus 2012 to find out a little more on the Canon 5D Mark III.
The Canon EF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM Lens (included)
The Canon EF 24-105mm lens is a standard zoom lens with a focal length ranging from 24mm wide-angle to 105mm portrait-length telephoto. The EF 24-105mm incorporates Canon's highest standards of precision optics, combining outstanding image performance and ultimate operability with dust and moisture resistant construction. Canon's ring-type USM gives silent but quick autofocus (AF), along with full-time manual focus. Moreover, with dust- and moisture-resistant construction, this is a durable yet sophisticated lens that meets the demands of serious photographers.
Full-frame 22.3-megapixel sensor
Capture high-quality images that are full of detail with a 22.3 megapixel CMOS sensorand DIGIC 5+ image processor. Colours are bright but natural, and fine detail is preserved even in dark shadow areas and bright highlights.
High-quality performance, even in low light
The EOS 5D Mark III delivers superb picture quality whatever the lighting conditions. Keep shooting hand-held even after the sun goes down, thanks to an ISO 100– 25,600 sensitivity range (extendable from ISO 50 - 102,400).
61-point wide-area autofocus
Focus quickly and accurately, even on offcentre subjects, with a 61 point wide-areaautofocus system. 41 cross-type points(five of which are extra sensitive double crosstype) ensure highly accurate tracking of moving objects.
High-speed continuous shooting
Keep up with the action at 6 frames per second, recording up to 16,270 continuous JPEG images to a UDMA mode 7 card in a single burst.
Without the Canon 600EX-RT flashgun (or E3-RT Transmitter) installed on the camera you can’t wirelessly control another flash. To control a slave from the 5D Mark III, or any other EOS camera for that matter, you will need a master of some sort on the hot shoe (either a 600EX-RT or a ST-E3). Full support of the 600EX with the 5D MK III means that you get full control of the flash using the LCD. And full support of AF assist – the 600EX has support for all the focus points of the 5D MK III. The 5D MK III does not feature a built-in flash.
With the new Creative Photo button you have quick and easy access to HDR image creation, Multiple Exposure and 7 pre-set Picture Styles with the ability to create 3 more user defined styles.
Full-HD video with manual control
Enjoy high quality Full HD video at 1080p resolution. Use manual controls and Canon’s comprehensive EF Lens range to achieve cinematic visual effects.
Great quality sound
Give your video footage the soundtrack it deserves. The EOS 5D Mark III records digital stereo sound at 48KHz and offers manual control over audio level. A standard 3.5mm mic socket enables the use of thirdparty microphones; a headphone socket permits audio monitoring while recording.
In-camera editing functions
Begin your digital editing workflow before you arrive back home. Rate your images on a scale of one to five and compare two images simultaneously on screen. Use in-camera Raw processing to explore creative possibilities – such as black & white conversion and retrospective white balance.
Built to go anywhere
A magnesium chassis provides strength and durability without adding weight. Weather sealing offers protection against dust and moisture.

Quality piece of equipment
About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Comments about Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR with EF 24-105mm Lens:
I am very pleased with this kit. I already own an EOS600D and this is far superior. Packed with useful features and produces quality images. Fast and easy to use. It is very robust but this makes it very heavy this gets worse when you add a long focal length L Series lens. However, this is a minor drawback in the overall scheme of things.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The similarity with my 7D has made the transition a breeze. Other reviewers raise concern over the range of AF modes but the flexibility and accuracy outweigh any issues IMHO. Fast focus and accuracy with the 24-105L. Low light response and colour reproduction are excellent. Quality with a Sigma 105mm f2.8 Macro has been sensational. There are many reviews out there with full camera details - i would endorse all those that say it is worth the step up to full frame if you enjoy your digital photography.

I use the camera for anything and everything. I use to have the Canon EOS 300D and loved it right until the very end. I was not thinking about upgrading yet, but WEX offered money for my camera regardless of condition and I had always wanted the Canon EOS 5D III; I was so impressed with the evolution of technology over the time as well being higher spec. I'm really impressed with movie mode and look forward to newer technology having continuous focus when I upgrade in the future.

What a great camera/lens combo!
By Keith T
Oh. I am so glad I have bought this camera and lens. Previously I was a 7D user but I must say the full frame sensor is so much better-even cropping out tiny parts of an image result in great shots. The 5D handles noise very well. I am not dissapointed yet.

I have not possessed this camera very long, but what I have seen of it and done with it so far is well beyond my expectations. Robust but not too heavy, it is of quality construction. Masses of options and technical capabilities to keep anybody happy I should think. What more does a person need from a camera? Delighted.
A brilliant product, highly recommendedt
My last digital camera was an EOS 20D bought years ago but still working perfectly. Decided to modernise and push the boat out to buy the 5D MK 3 with the 24-105 Lens. Wex Photographic blew their competitors out of the water by offering a free canon battery grip included in the price. Buying over the phone was a pleasure, the staff at Wex being both helpful and informative. The quality of this product is astounding. After only six weeks of ownership, its still hard to get the smile off my face. Don't get me wrong, there is still loads to learn and techniques still to conquer but with a toy as good as this, things are going from strength to strength. This was my retirement present to myself and the best money I have spent for years

A blinding camera - as you'd expect!
About Me Film-maker, Professional
I purchased a 5D mk3 to replace my 7D for everyday video work (interviews, corporate work, music vids, VFX recons etc) and also to install the Magic Lantern hack, which enables 14-bit RAW video files. The hack is not supported by Canon in any way, but that was a risk worth taking in my book. If you are buying one of these to replace a 5D mk 2 for video work, the camera now seems to be free of aliasing (that nasty shimmer from roof tiles? Gone!) and rolling shutter (jelly-like wobble from moving the camera too fast from side to side) seems to be slightly reduced, but is still there. Fixable in post, if you're doing that kind of thing. The only disappointing thing is that even though Canon have included a higher bitrate for encoding the H264 video files that come out, it doesn't seem to have made all that much difference, which is an opportunity missed. The upside is that generally the video you get out of the camera can be sharpened in post now, which was a bit iffy with a 7D/5D mk2. As a stills camera this is obviously quite superb, I got the 24 to 105 F4 lens with it and that's a great all-rounder that is sharp and very sturdy-feeling. Another excellent feature is the ability to have a CF card (big, fast) and a smaller SD card as well, so you can have quite a bit of picture storage on at any one time. Overall, despite the niggle over the video mode, I'm extremely happy with this camera. As I wanted to use it for video mainly, I wouldn't have looked at a Nikon, but I can imagine that this stands up very well as a stills camera against other models in a similar price bracket. That said, there will be other reviewers who will be far more savvy in that department, but I thought I'd give you my two pence worth on the features I am using!
Fantastic camera, well worth the money
I was looking to upgrade to a full frame camera, the limitations of the 450D was holding me back, I now have the power to create with this fantastic camera. Lightweight and well built, features are plenty, the camera is simple to use out of the box
Watch the weight!
Amazing features and performance but was much bigger and heavier than I expected so 4*Not good for travelling light!
