The Canon 650D Digital SLR Camera Body is a high-end entry level camera that slots in above the Canon EOS 600D. Scrolling through your images, changing your settings and selecting your AF points has never been easier, the EOS 650D is the first in the Digital SLR world to introduce an articulated LCD touch screen. The intuitive 3.0” LCD screen enables you to use fingertip control and provides you with exceptional detail. The EOS 650D presents an 18.0 megapixel sensor with powerful DIGIC 5 technology that is designed to expand your creativity and enables you to capture inspiring photographs and HD movies in any situation with ease. Other advanced features of the 650D include Scene Intelligent Auto, Creative Filters, an integrated Speedlite Transmitter, HDR Backlight Control, continuous shooting at 5fps, and advanced metering and stunning low light capability with a wide ISO range of 100-12,800 (expandable to 25,600). More
Thanks to an 18.0 Megapixel sensor, the EOS 650D captures images in stunning high resolution at a maximum size of 5184 x 3456 pixels. Print poster sized images, or crop to make new compositions with abundant detail.
Superior processing power
Rich colours and smooth tonal gradation with fine detail, the EOS 650D has the new DIGIC 5 14-bit processor at its heart, which works with you to optimise all settings and Modes, delivering stunning images with reduced noise in all light levels, even at night.
A state-of-the-art exposure metering system analyses each scene over 63 separate zones. Light intensity and colour information plus data from the camera’s lens and focus points are also used to help calculate the optimum exposure in all lighting conditions.
CMOS sensor technology
Only Canon designs, develops and manufactures all its own sensors, which means quality is guaranteed at every production stage. With advanced metering and stunning low-light capability up to an incredible ISO 12800, the EOS 650D can handle difficult shooting scenarios with ease, in many cases eliminating the need for a flash or tripod. Its highly sensitive CMOS sensor can be expanded to ISO 25600 enabling you to push its performance even further in low light.
Capture the action
Football and other fast-pacedsports require the very best performance from a camera. Rapid action is recorded in full resolution thanks to a continuous 5fps, which means you will never miss that critical moment.
Vari-angle 7.7cm (3.0”) 3:2 ratio
Clear View LCD II Touch Understanding the EOS 650D is made even easier thanks to a highly intuitive screen with 1,040,000 dots. A first on any Canon DSLR, touch screen technology offers control over viewing images and movies with pinch to zoom, plus control camera settings and even fire the shutter with a touch of the screen. The LCD can be angled and tilted for any shooting situation and performs well even in bright sunlight meaning you can always see what’s going on. Focus and compose using all of the screen’s display, safe in the knowledge that the aspect ratio is the same as the captured image.
Four ways to focus – better, faster AF
The EOS 650D boasts superior autofocus performance with nine cross-type focus points, allowing you to create sharply focused pictures with confidence – even in the trickiest situations. There are four ways to focus, from Face Detection and Tracking, FlexiZone and FlexiZone Multi (which allows you to select one of nine zones on the LCD), to Quick mode that lets you change the focus point by touching the LCD and dragging the highlighted square to where you want the lens to focus.
The LCD screen is articulated and rotates through 270 degrees, making it easy to get great shots from low or high angles. Clear View II technology enables the screen to perform better in direct sunlight making Live View composition a pleasure.
Full HD quality
Creative movie making is made even easier on the EOS 650D thanks to high-speed autofocus, on-screen editing and full stereo sound. Canon’s advances in Full HD Movies means the joy of creating a movie is exciting and easy to achieve.
AF in movies
Faster and more accurate continuous focus in Movie mode allows you to keep sharp focus throughout the duration of your recording. Combined with the new EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens your Movies will always be sharply focused during recording.
Enhance your Movie footage with Video Snapshot. Shoot a series of short videos up to eight seconds in length, edit them and play the album as a video slideshow in one movie file. The EOS 650D makes this easy and fun and the results give your movies pace and excitement with the look and feel of professionally edited footage.
Scene Intelligent Auto
Choose Scene Intelligent Auto and with the powerful DIGIC 5 processor at work, each scene is analysed for the presence of movement, faces (in Live View), lighting, contrast and colour. Even the EOS 650D’s Auto Lighting Optimiser is fine-tuned according to dynamic range, so that highlights and shadows are recorded and reproduced perfectly.
Creative filters to enhance and inspire
Creative filters bring a world of possibilities to your fingertips, and with EOS 650D you can choose from any one of seven filters to enhance and add extra drama and effects to your chosen image.
Handheld Night Scene
Selecting the Handheld Night Scene mode allows the EOS 650D to shoot a series of pictures in very low light at a fast enough shutter speed to prevent camera shake, blending them together to create one stunning result, eliminating the need for a tripod.
Lighting effects made easy
Get creative with off-camera flash thanks to the EOS 650D’s Integrated Speedlite Transmitter, which allows you to add additional Speedlite flashguns triggered remotely by the camera with no need for any cables or complications. Position another compatible Speedlite to one side for dramatic side lighting or use more than one flash placed in different areas to light subject and background independently.
HDR Backlight Control
Select direct from the Mode dial and shoot images with HDR Backlight Control for stunning results in backlit conditions. With the power of the DIGIC 5 processor, three continuous shots at different exposures are taken. The shots are under, correctly and over exposed and then combined to create an image having minimal loss of highlight detail and shadow detail – even in backlit conditions.

Comments about Canon EOS 650D Digital SLR Camera Body:
This camera has so many new and brilliant features I don't know where to start. To name a few :- Live view, touch screen technology including full camera comtrol, touch screen magnified focussing, swing screen for low level on the ground shots. Fancy back light reduction, noise reduction on long exposures etc. etc. need I go on. You need to read the specs to fully appreciate how inovative and good this camera is.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a well built lightweight camera producing quality high pixel images. Shutter is precise and pleasant to use. Bright and large LCD screen that can be angled in use. The ability to take 3 exposures in one shot to retain detail in the highlights and shadows is a terrific innovation. A seperate control for video on the top of the camera is a betterment. The touchscreen is another great innovation on this camera but takes a bit of getting used to. Pity it takes only SD small memory cards since my existing Canon camera takes the larger flashcards so I will need to carry two different sizes around with me. The cost of the camera is very reasonable. Like all dslr cameras these days, there are far too many options to choose from. Sometimes simpler is best. I would thoroughly recommend this camera.

Entry level? That's being very modest.

I purchased this as a back up for my EOS 40D, but with the excellent 18 mp sensor and adjustable screen I am tending to use it more and more.Ok it might not have the build quality of the 40D, but used with respect it should be tough enough for many years service and the facilities it offers are superb with great picture quality both in still and movie mode.Basically, unless you are going to invest in an EOS 7D I can see no point in purchasing a mid range camera unless you really need the magnesium body.

Top DSLR for modest price
I really enjoy the flexibility that the flip-out LCD monitor gives for composing low, high or the more awkward angled shots - and the touch screen facility which is very easy to understand and use.
Just the Ticket
Good to handle. Love the touch screen. 98% happy.Would have liked:remote control sensors at back as well as front of camera. My previous camera Nikon D5100 had built in intervalometer. Shame the 650D doesn't.

The most features of any Canon DSLR!
from Kent UK
The 650d has all the features of all the Canon DSLR's plus a touch screen which is great to use, especially for macro and landscape shots using a tripod. It also has an HDR feature, 18 megapixels (more than enough for A3 even cropped)and is reasonably compact and lightweight. So much better than my 50d.
Fantastic picture quality
Nice little DSLR - Big Improvements
I bought the 650 as a lightweight option to my larger and bulkier 60d. The dimesnional and weight difference although not much on paper make a big difference in use. The touch screen is simple to use and very intuative. For me the real big plus point over the 60d is the speed of AF in live view, its MUCH quicker, IQ is great as expected and speed of operation and focus is great. I use this with a 28mm prime as my take evereywhere camera. I love it.

GOOD BUT WITH POTENTIAL PROBLEMS
By loon fae torry
Canon has indentified a phenomenon in which the camera model name embedded in the EXIF data of captured images incorrectly shows "EOS Kiss X6i", which is the model name for the EOS 650D in the Japanese market. Why was this not corrected by a download rather than having to take the camera to an authorised dealer to have this matter rectified. You only find out about this when you enter the Canon support site. [...]
650d - A little Marvel
I have just got my 650d from Wex as a smaller and light weight alternative to the Canon 60d that i own. The 650d is the perfect small DSLR, used with a 28mm lens the set up is light, fast and produces really good quality images. Size wise i could carry this all day with out any issues. Its like a quality compact on steroids! The Touch Screen is quick and responsive and i think will be far more useful than i first thought. The focusing in Live View for stills is 10 times faster than that of the 60d and is now actually a usable alternative to the viewfinder. Very pleased so far. [@]
