          I have in the past, bought non Canon eyecups and found that they have easily fallen off. The Canon eyecup fits far more solidly and is less prone to getting itself lost. I use an eyepiece extender which means the eyecup sticks out quite a way and as I walk about with the camera hanging from one shoulder, the eyecup on the extender often catches, which is how I keep losing both the eyecups and the extenders.

          Since buying the Canon make I have not lost either eyecup or extender - what more can I say. Works out cheaper in the long run.
