Very high quality (if expensive) item.
A very well-engineered product that performs 100% reliably. High quality materials, construction and fit. Easy to attach and remove. Very expensive for what it is (due to Canon's pricing rather than Wex's) and really should be included as standard with the lens.

Original is best
By The Mongolian
The Original Tripod Mount is the best, I have all Canon 'L' lenses and I didn't want some flimsy third party mount made of plastic, this one is original Canon, its aluminium, solid and I looked around but couldn't beat the great prices at WEX and the service and speed of delivery are second to none, I recommend WEX to all my photography friends they are about the best for ordering online in the UK and I will certainly use them in the future.
Exactly what you would expect
I looked at some alternatives but the reviews of them put me off. I wanted something that was fit for purpose and would work without having to fiddle with it. It was a shame that Canon didn't try it on a 7d with a battery grip! That said it doesn't take much to remove the grip and replace the battery. Secure and easy to fit on the lens it still works out cheaper than the IS version of the 70-200L alternative.

About Me Professional
Although technically, for the 70-200 F4 one does not requite a tripod ring, I find the extra stability for long exposure landscape work hugely beneficial. It is expensive for a bit of metal but would I trust £3000 plus of camera gear to a cheap third-party copy? No. It is very well engineered and feels solid and work smoothly.
Canon Lens Tripod Mount Ring A 11 W

The product is far superior to some of the cheaper third party ones I have had. Quality is excellent as you would expect from Canon. Very expensive but in my opinion worth it.

It holds my Lens safely on the tripod.
from Mid Wales
After purchasing an L series lens, I was looking for a secure way of attaching it to my tripod and monopod. Balance was likely to be a problem so using the normal mounting position below the camera was not on the agenda. I nearly died when I saw the price of the Canon offering but I had read a lot of reviews on the third party offerings and was not convinced enough to go that route. The main problems were1. The possible scratching of the lens body2. Insecure fixing allowing the lens to swivel in the grip.3. Very tight fit on the lens producing fitting problems.4. All or a combination of the above from most who reviewed them. 5. Add this to the list. Inconsistency somewhere in the manufacturing process. The reviewers of the Canon item had no such problems. So swallow hard and buy. I must say that had there been any hint of a problem it would have gone straight back. As you can probably guess there were no problems ...... atall. Just Canon quality from one end to the other and yes it fits perfectly and grips exactly as it is meant to. It also releases properly allowing the camera to swivel, any where between portrait and land scape or any where else you may want to fix your camera. In short it's pricey but quality and well up to the job and I won't doubt Canon again. If your worried about how to mount your lens on your tripod then buy this item and save yourself possibly a lot of grief.
