too expensive to run
About Me Infrequent User
Comments about Canon PIXMA Pro 1 Inkjet Printer:
This printer is probably the best A3+ printer on the market , amazing quality prints , beautiful build quality and the software is well designed for the most part once you get familiar .So why only 2 stars , well this printer is just so expensive to run , i had read reviews which stated so and thought ok generally inkjet printers are not inexpensive to run but this machine is just unaffordable to run. Forget about any of the running costs you see on internet reviews regarding the canon pro 1 , this machine just devours ink , every time you switch it on you can almost see the ink levels go down . You will spend your time and money replacing the very expensive ink tanks . Yes 36ml to begin with in each tank & when the software tells you that the ink is depleted and refuses to print anymore , you swap it out only to see that there is actually between 1/4 to 1/3 of the ink left in the tank ( i know this because i opened one of the said empties and forced the ink out into a graduated cylinder to see 10ml left so thats 36ml minus 10ml ) . I have this printer 18months now & am researching third party inks , I really dont mind now if the third party inks destroy the printer , i would prefer that they work but the alternative is just to recycle the machine itself .I am a working professional photographer , i would say that i am a low volume printer so maybe if you are printing every day and the machine is never turned off and you can charge extremely well for you prints ( as you should considering print quality & costs ) this might be a viable option . I just wish canon had marketed this printer at those clients and not the low volume guys like me . You will still be looking at the ink waste considering whats left in the cartridge when the software refuses to let you print anymore & if you had to leave it powered on 24/7 , Well my environmental footprint is large enough without this .So if running costs are not an issue for you and you are not environmentally sensitive then this is the most wonderful product for you .mike

Another excellent printer from Canon

Another top quality printer from Canon. Easy to use, and delivers superb photographic quality prints that won't fade like those using dye inks.Having owned many photo printers over the years I've consistently found Canon to be the least prone to clogging (take heed Epson) and most consistent in terms of overall quality. This is a well built professional tool capable of turning our superb looking prints up to A3+ size.

This really is a fabulous printer. I am very pleased with the results so far. As a test of the black capability, I recently took a photo of a very white lily on a black background; stunning reproduction well worthy of hanging as wall art. As a tip, I would recommend using correct profiles for the paper/media you print to. These can be obtained from most paper producers i.e. Canon, Ilford, Permajet etc.

The quality is superb, and it is almost the same size as the Epsom 3880. Shame it does not print A2 and the restrictions on length of paper for panoramas
Great but very big and heavy

A very good printer but would advise you ensure you have a large enough area for the printer and take into account the feed tray.

This printer produces superb Monochrome prints that are exhibition standard. Only problem I have found is you can only turn the Chroma Optimiser off when using Canon Pro Platinum paper and when using the supplied ICC profiles for the Fine Art papers can only be printed with a boarder. But if your after a printer that gives you top quality professional prints with out the heads getting blocked up all the time this is the one to get.
Not a busy user, but great output for our purposes
Canon Pixma pro 100
If your thinking about buying a pro printer, this is one to consider. It seems quite expensive and is quite large but it's well worth the investment. There are 12 colours and you receive a pack of ink with the product. The print quality is fantastic.

It's built too last. (Heavy in other words). It's all I could have hoped for in a Printer.. It produces stunning prints. Good job Canon
Top end printer

This printer is capable of the highest possible quality photo output. Colour images jump off the page, and having a multiple mono ink-set, black & white output is superb. I have not had the printer long enough to monitor its ink usage and suspect it may be a little more expensive per print output than any previous printer I have owned. Printing times for A3 paper are quite a bit longer than when compared to an Epson equivalent printer. This in my opinion is no handicap if you are looking for the highest possible quality output for both colour & mono - This is the printer to own. My only negative comment relates to the printers start up times before being ready to print, after pressing the print button the printer goes into a rather extended head preparation procedure which seems to go on for some time.
