Canon PowerShot D10 Underwater Digital Camera

Scene Detection Technology
Smart Auto mode uses intelligent Scene Detection Technology to identify the scene based on distance, brightness, contrast, and overall hue. The Canon PowerShot D10 then selects from a choice of 18 scene modes and selects the most appropriate to obtain the perfect settings for the scene you are shooting

Anti-blur with Motion Detection Technology
Motion Detection Technology calculates the movement of the camera, the subject and the speed at which this motion occurs. The Canon PowerShot D10 then selects the optimum ISO automatically, to ensure perfection in any situation.

High speed DIGIC 4 processing
Canon’s DIGIC 4 processor delivers exceptional processing speeds, responsive operation, superb image quality and colour reproduction. Advanced Noise Reduction on the Canon PowerShot D10 digital camera produces richly detailed, cleaner images, even at high ISO speeds.

VGA movies
Using the Canon PowerShot D10 you can supplement your still images with high quality 30fps VGA movie clips. Perfect for those situations when a still shot doesn't quite say it all.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Underwater Digital Camera:

I use this camera very heavily, almost entirely in the sea! It's a hard life for this little camera, it gets put through strains and stresses that most cameras will never experience and time and again comes up with the goods. All the photos on [$] page come from this camera, worth a look to see what it can do in various light conditions and continually being subjected to submersion and shocks!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Underwater Digital Camera:

We purchased a Canon D10 when they first came to the UK and have used it extensively since then. It is easy to use and, compared to our previous underwater digital camera, produced much better pictures and videos. We did not find any problems with noise and used the camera in different climates without any problems. A word of warning though. You need to ensure that the battery door is securely closed. We did not do this on one occasion and, although we managed to take some pictures, eventually sea water seeped into the camera and ruined it completely. Inspite of being in the sea for a good hour we managed to salvage the battery and the memory card. It was just the camera that was damaged beyond repair, and this through our carelessness. We have now purchased a new Canon D10 to replace our old one.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Underwater Digital Camera:

I enjoyed using this in my local pool, but even with all the lights on, I had to use a high ISO which produced a lot of noise. But the results were good enough.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Underwater Digital Camera:

This is a very neat camera. My standard test is to switch on and start taking pictures - this is intuitive in use, and I still haven't needed to read the manual! Image quality is pretty good, presumably the larger than average CCD plays a part in this. Noise, ok at ISO 400 isn't great beyond ISO 800. Maybe I am a bit harsh when it comes to shutter delay - I am used to SLRs, but it is quite noticable. Add in red-eye and /or blink detection you usually miss the picture - the delay is glacial. These tough cameras are obviously the vogue at present but I don't like the loss of a lens cover - waterproof it maybe, but get the outer lens cover scratched and you have had it. Obviously the battery compartment and connections are sealed - looking at the seals I won't be testing the 10m rating, but I expect to use it for a bit of snorkelling down to perhaps 10ft - without being too ambitious. Thus far I haven't got beyong the bath!
I will continue to use my Fuji f100fd with its underwater housing for diving - a different league.

All in all this is a good little camera, and looking at the specs, is probably the most accomplished of the water resistant cameras around currently. To be more certain of waterproof
