£369 inc. £30 Cashback. The Canon PowerShot G15 Black Digital Camera is a high-end compact camera to join the ever-growing G series cameras and is the successor to the popular G12 (released 2010). Inheriting a lot of the core features in the G12, the G15 sees the addition of a bright 28mm wide-angle f1.8-2.8 IS lens that is designed to perform beautifully across the entire zoom range, even in low light. The 12.1-megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor combined with Canon’s powerful DIGIC 5 image processor creates the Canon HS system for exceptional low-light performance up to ISO 12800, enhanced image quality, and ultra-fast operation. In addition, the improved AF system, according to Canon, is 53% faster than its predecessor the G12, making it the fastest Canon compact camera ever produced. Other features of the G15 include shooting in RAW, a bright 3.0” LCD (920k-dots), an optical viewfinder and 1080p full HD movie recording. More

Comments about Canon PowerShot G15 Black Digital Camera:
I bought this product as a backup to my SLR kit and for good quality images when it is difficult to use an SLR. I have nightmares of walking to remote places only to find my camera has failed, my battery and backup are depleted etc. It happens occasionally. This camera is pretty small. The lens retracts making it easily stowable in a rucksack. It has a reasonable zoom range, large aperture lens, and is similar in operation to an SLR i.e. program, aperture and shutter priority. It would be nice to have an APS-C sensor but compactness, zoom and reasonable aperture I imagine are ever likely to make this possible. The camera focuses well and produces sharp images. The close up facility works well at wide angle but is limited at longer focal lengths. The large and clear display is actually useable in daylight to check focus and content. Auto colour balance is reliable.I particularly like the programmable display feature and the histogram display when preparing to expose making manual or offset exposures more practical on a product of this type. I would have like to have program selection to favour speed or depth of field, but I think that this is possibly a step too far.As one would expect the sensor saturates more easily than an APS-C but it's pretty good and has SLR like flashing warning in those areas where this occurs.Overall I'm well pleased with this product which offers a good balance of capability, size and price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good results from pocketable camera
Used on a recent tour of South Africa. I wasn't happy carrying my very visible/expensive SLR and lenses around in some areas of the country but this could easily slip into my pocket when not in use. Results are very good for my requirements eg web pages and prints up to 10 x 12 inches.

Good, but not what it should be.
By Marian P.
I use the G15 as a backup to my DSLR. The ability to carry it in my pocket means that I do not miss a photo opportunity. The picture quality is excellent, but this is offset by the poor viewfinder with no information on it and only 75% coverage approx. Canon have failed to finish what has potential to be a great camera. Finally, if things go wrong Canon are unhelpful.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Just what I was looking for
My trusty Powershot S60 is giving problems. Wanted replacement with optical viewfinder plus similar facilities to S60, also a 1.8 lens for flash free work. Viewfinder not as good as the S60. Nice size of camera and well made. Good service from the supplier, very well packed for delivery.
