The Canon SB-E2 Speedlite bracket is compatible with Speedlite 580EX II, 580EX 430EX II and 430EX. This dustproof, water-resistant bracket can be used with the Speedlite to create an entirely dustproof and water-resistant system. Three levels of height adjustment are available to help prevent unnatural shadows on the sides of objects when shooting from a vertical position. Comments about Canon SB-E2 Speedlite L Bracket:

When I first took up photography in the early 1970s expensive cameras did not have a flash shoe on top of the pentaprism, they knew (camera manufactures) it was the worst place to put a small portable flash. Today, not only is it inconceivable that a new camera would come without a mounting shoe on the pentaprism they even build-in a small flash there. Apart from the position of the flash it feels very vulnerable to getting knocked off, as soon as you let go of your camera whilst on the strap it tips over. Canon have addressed this with this flash bracket. It is well made, does the job and makes the camera flash combo a lot stronger and even looks better. It positions the flash to one side of the lens and when shooting portraits you can have the flash to the top right side of the lens rather than low to the right - is it only me thinks this low down right of the lens looks awful?
