The Spyder Cube is like a super-enhanced grey-card for the exposure conscious photographer! Simply include the SpyderCube in the first of a series of photographs and use it as a guide to calibrate the exposure, colour and white balance of all the images when processing them. Unlike a traditional grey card the Spyder Cube can be used to determine colour temperature, highlight and shadow points, and is spectrally neutral so can be used under any lighting conditions. More

SpyderCube - Accurately control your colours by balancing light
The SpyderCube is the first all-in-one RAW calibration tool that facilitates the capture of a wide range of colour and exposure data in one shot. Simply use the SpyderCube in one of a series of images, adjust as necessary, save the setting and then apply to an entire series of images, allowing you to colour correct in seconds.
SpyderCube provides fast and accurate white-point correction, as well as bracketed adjustments for highlights and blacks. The white face of SpyderCube helps define highlights in relation to the catch-light, the grey face measures colour temperature and mid-tone response and the black face defines shadows in relation to the black trap, which itself defines absolute black.
Compact and simple to use, the SpyderCube is the definitive white balance and grey card solution, can be hung in any environment or mounted on a tripod, making SpyderCube the indispensable colour control tool that belongs in every photographer's equipment bag.

About Me Photo Enthusiast
Comments about Colorvision SpyderCube:
The Spydercube enables you to take a reference shot from which you to get readings for adjusting subsequent photos taken under the same conditions. I have found that this kit has enabled me to achieve more accuracy in the white balance. I would say that the Sypercube gives a good reference point readings to allow for better rendering of colour rather than doing it artistically utilising photo editing software packages, for me it has allowed less time using photo editing software.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

If you really want to get the white balance accurate this is the bit of kit to help you do it. Fancy photo editing software packages provide infinite control over white balance then generally use a menu of pre-sets to reduce that to a dozen or less options. I find this very frustrating when I am trying to render colour accurately (rather than artistically). Spydercube enables you to take a reference shot from which you to get readings for adjusting subsequent photos taken under the same conditions. The only downside as far as I am concerned is that the novel shape (which is a big part of why it works) means that it is not always easy to position it where you need it without introducing even more gear to sit it on or dangle it from. This is not a big problem if you are doing still life shots but it becomes more of an issue if you are trying to use it outdoors for landscapes and the like. However, I guess most people want a better estimate of light at the time of shooting than editing software gives them, rather than absolute perfection on every shot. In these circumstances you may not need to go through a big set up process for every shot. Definitely a bit of kit for the enthusiasts who are prepared to invest the time to get the perfection they seek.
