The Elinchrom D-Lite 4 head been updated to the "it" version. As well as all the original features the newly designed light now includes an intelligent slave cell, enabling synchronisation with on-camera flash systems a stronger stand bracket and a larger more robust handle. The biggest change sees the addition of the Skyport Eco wireless control built into the flash head allowing full control over a choice of 4 channels from any Skyport transmitter. Please note: no reflector is included.

As soon as i lifted the D-Lite IT out of the box i was immediately pleased with its solid construction and weight (a better feel than a BXRI 500). I shot all day with it yesterday and it popped without fail producing the usual Elinchrom consistency found in it's bigger siblings. It also handles large light modifiers very well so there's no evidence of cost-cutting on the mount and locking ring at all, it's strong! Like the BXRI I was pleasantly surprised to see the extra umbrella mount underneath for those not using the standared Elinchrom gear.

My only gripe with the D-Lite IT is the limited Skyport functionality. Skyport will fire the flash but you cannot change the flash output which i didn't realise and to be honest found disappointing.

Another point, the D-Lite IT like the BXRI units do not include any standard 18cm reflectors in but Elinchrom always include one in the source imagery which is poor netiquette and misleading.

The D-Lite IT has a few shortcomings but the for the price it really is a no brainer.

There may be cheaper alternatives, but none offer the consistency of output and features of this unit: built-in trigger, cooling fan, plug-in flash tube, digital controls... I could go on! Moreover, there is a wide range of accessories available.[...]
