About Me Professional
I wanted to like this product as it is so rugged but I just can't get the CF cards out without feeling I am going to damage them.I resorted to using a pen to pry the cards out. On a paid job when I am quickly trying to change cards I would not recommend this card holder.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Cheap insurance, you need this.

While SD and CF cards are pretty reliable these days, the fact remains that your shoot's potentially irreplaceable results are stored on itsy little things which are easily fumbled or simply mislaid in amongst your gear. Let's face it, SD cards are so light and tiny a strong gust of wind could whisk one away off a table. And if you dropped one while rummaging about in your bag? In a puddle? Down a toilet (it happens)? Then there are all those bare contacts on SD cards and little holes on CF cards waiting to get airborne filth in them. When I shot 35mm film I'd always keep the cassettes in their little black containers when not loaded in a camera and I guess old habits die hard. I just feel happier knowing my cards are safely stowed in a tough, sealed case where they are far more likely to survive any rough treatment, dusty or sandy environments, dew or inclement weather. Or even an unscheduled swim. That's exactly what the Card Safe does. Some say the cards are tricky to get out, my experience is that they're securely held and come out easily unless perhaps you have big fingers and chew your nails ;-) Get the Extreme Neon and you'll spot your cards instantly amongst a compartment full of bits of kit.
This is a durable, weatherproof container for various sizes of memory cards. It is bright yellow, so it is easy to find in your kit bag and the clasp seems very secure. I suspect this is the sort of thing you could drop from a great height or run over it and it would survive. I haven't tested in this way but the solid feel of the case is inspiring. This is just the sort of thing I will be taking with me when climbing or trekking.

Solid construction ensures my CF cards remain safe when not in Camera. The best in my opinion.
About Me Semi Pro
I have owned one of these card safes for nearly four years now and it has travelled all over Europe with me from Cyprus to Norway. It is extremely rugged with a positive locking action and is capable of holding four CF cards AND four SD/SDHC cards as well. The card fit is a little snug but you get used to that, and being an absent minded old duffer, the neon yellow case is always easily seen.I would say this is one of my best kit buys of the last few years.

For the school of hard knocks.

It could be argued that until they are backed-up, your exposed memory cards are the most precious items in your gadget bag. Those images are likely to be irreplaceable, as opposed to the insurable kit! The Card Safe Extreme offers the protection they deserve: I can vouch for their ruggedness, having dropped them on occasion, with never a resultant crack. Waterproofing I haven't yet tested, but I see no reason to doubt that. If you purchase the neon version, you'll be less likely to overlook it when packing up after a shoot (I speak from near bitter experience there, having once left some exposed film in a car park 70 miles from base). The rubber interior is multi-format, but almost too snug for my CFIIs, which often require a little leverage to get them out again.
