Giottos MH1312-652 Series II Ball Head

The Giottos MH1312 652 Series II Ball Head is designed for fast and easy positioning of the camera. Series II ball heads differ from Series I heads as they include an extra feature which gives you additional control over your camera’s movement. Movement through all 3 axes is controlled from just the one locking lever, with an additional control for adjusting friction. With friction applied to the ball you have far greater control over the speed with which the ball will move and ultimately you can achieve more precise positioning. The Giottos MH1312 652 Series II ball head incorporates a quick release plate system with a maximum load capacity of 8kg. Series II ball heads also feature an additional pan lock control, an extra large weight saving hollowed ball to ensure stability whilst retaining impressive maximum weight capabilities. Designed to fit all Giottos tripod legs (the 1312 has a larger base area than its predecessor the 1302) and comes complete with a 5 year warranty.

Compared to manfrotto, this comes with a quick release and has a better grip and friction control.

This was recommended to me by Wex as a good entry level option to go with the Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod. It's very well made and easy to use / control. A good choice if you want a ball head without blowing loads of money.

Great ball head. construction feel really robust, the knobs to loosen/tighten the ball head are really smooth.
Great for panning action shot with a specific knob to control the friction.

All in all a great product wich is worth considering if you are looking for a ball head.

I had been thinking of buying this for a while but i like to have a hands on feel first but couldn't find any high Street stockist. Then by chance i went to [@]and played around with it and that made my mind up but i wasn't going to pay their price ...£80 [$]with delivery from warehouse express bargain.Mounted a Nikon D7000 with battery grip with no problem it was solid no slipping, very happy chappy indeed

A great partner to the Manfrotto 055prob x tripod. Does everything i need it to,and being a ball socket can swivel a camera in almost any direction.The two spirit levels are a bonus to, and the knobs have a nice soft feel to them. A great add-on for my tripod.
