Giottos MTL8361B 3 Section Adjustable Column Carbon Fibre Tripod is a lightweight, sturdy tripod designed for everyday use. With a maximum load capacity of 8kg it is an ideal choice for the camera and long telephoto lens combination. The use of Carbon Fibre reduces the overall weight by 750g when compared to its aluminium counterpart. The tripod is easy to set up with quick action lever leg locks and also has foam grips on each top leg section so that the tripod can be repositioned comfortably. The quick release locks allow the leg angle settings to be adjusted independently, making the tripod easy to use on rugged terrain or at low-levels. These carbon fibre models include all the features of the Vertical Column tripods, with the added benefit of being able to move the column from its vertical position through a 180 degree angle and lock where required, enabling you to achieve the perfect, close-up shots. All Giottos tripods carry a 5 year warranty. More

A great piece of equipment.
from Wicklow Ireland.
This tripod was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad I took his advice. I needed a strong yet lightweight tripod that would support my camera with battery pack and my 100-400mm zoom lens. This meets my needs. I would recommend getting a Giottos handle to carry the tripod because it does gain a bit of weight with a heavy ball head. I know I just got this tripod but so far I cannot see any cons. Highly recommend.
Great tripod, Great Price

About Me Semi-Professional
A great entry into the world of Carbon Fibre tripods. Nicely weighted (but not too heavy) and has a really solid feel. Used it recently with a 600mm lens at 1/5sec and all pics were tack sharp.Don't skimp on the head though, a good set of tripod legs is only as good as it's weakest link.Highly recommended.

About Me Professional
A light-weight tripod of average quality. I had mine for six months and encountered some issues with it:One of the legs becomes very loose with use. I tightened it, but it doesn't stay tight, and becomes quite floppy and awkward after a few outings. One of the plastic leg locks has developed a screeching sound when locked. It sounds as though the lock will sheer off, so I'm concerned this might happen when I'm out with it.I also had an issue with being able to adequately lock the centre column. The lock has a fairly small knob and it, for some reason, requires significant pressure to prevent the column moving. This pressure is difficult to achieve with the small knob, especially with gloves or cold hands.Overall I'd say pay the extra and get a Manfrotto. I've used their tripods for decades without issue. This one was an impulse purchase and 'looked' like a good deal. Mine proved not to be.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Solid as a rock
I bought this to hold a Nikon D2x, and 70-200 F2.8, which is a very heavy combination. It does this with ease. I can recomend the optional strap which makes carrying it effortless. I also bought the MH5001 pan tilt head. Easy to adjust, & very versatile. Perfect for a heavy camera.

Need a tripod - look no further
from Amelie Les Bains Palalda
A little bigger than I imagined and slightly heavier, this is not a tripod for travel. It will add to the workout for a day in the hills too, but once you set it up the sturdiness, flexibility and quality shines through. My first proper tripod and I am wondering why I waited so long - so much better than those flimsy inferior budget models - you will not regret buying this tripod and with the Giottos MH1312-652 Series II Ball Head you will have great confidence in allowing this equipment to support the big ticket items of lens and body.

Incredible value and quality
I dithered for a while over which tripod to get and after countless review reading and viewing tripods in shops, I went for this Giottos. It's price belies the quality of the build, the features and the ease of use. Following the instructions, I was able to set the tripod into almost any position with ease. The Clamps feel solid, the movement is smooth yet controlled and the feel is simply quality. Even the packaging is nicely presented with silver & black writing. I ordered the carry case at the same time which is padded has enough room for tripod + plus head and a mono pod. Well done Giottos, this is simply brilliant!

Altough I had to wait few weeks for it because it was on back order I'm very happy with the tripod. It feels very sturdy but at the same time it is very light as well.

this was given to me as a christmas gift and its absolutely superb, mine is in daily use. the tripod is so flexible in the way it can be used, lightweight and generally perfect for my need doing portraits and landscapes.great for general usage but you'll want something more compact if you plan to use it alot for travel as its quite a long beast

My best buy ever
from Mid Glamorgan
Debated with my self for ages over buying this tripod since I already had a few cheap aluminium tripods. Since I purchased this tripod it is the only one I have used. I would not even consider using my other Tripods. So far I haven't found a position I can not get my camera into, unlike my other tripods, which regularly left me frustrated. The stability is terrific even with my 200-500 mm lens. My only regret is I didn't buy this Tripod sooner, it would have saved me a lot of frustration. Money well spent.
