This came top in the DC April issue on the basis of features and value.[...]For its weight and size this is a very capable and sturdy tripod with all the features I need including: 3 leg angle settings, reversible & 180 degree tilting column, low angle (short) column and a toolkit for adjusting the leg section clamps. Coupled with the excellent Giottos MH1312-652 Series 2 Ball Head it offers superb flexibility in positioning my camera (Nikon D90) for macro shots. While I have not used it with a lens above 200mm, the platform feels steady enough to support a full frame DSLR with a longer lens. The tripod and head combination is reasonably light (about 2.5Kg) and the length with the legs retracted is 72cm, so it's not especially compact. That said, the legs have foam padding at the top which make it comfortable to carry on the shoulder.Overall, I agree with the DC review findings and would recommend this to any enthusiast as a bargain at a shade under [$] excluding the head.

I had been searching for a new tripod, and after reading the test in Digital Camera and the reviews here i ordered it with the MH1312-652 II ball head. And what a good buy!

The build quality is impressive - everything just locks in tight, and the tripod comes with a low height adaptor and tools, so it is ready for almost everything right out of the box.

The weight will always be an issue to some, i guess - it's aluminium, and the legs are in 3 parts, so it isn't really a tripod for travelling - it's a little heavy and doesn't fold down to minimal size - but for everyday use, and the occasional travel it will suit my needs just perfect!

Compared to my old Slik aluminium tripod, this tripod is light and very easy to use. Im 6ft tall and with the MH1300 ballhead attached, it is just above my eye level. I really recommend this for macro work. The swing out column is a little fiddly to setup and you do need to exercise some caution if you are using heavy glass. Once you work within its physical limitations, it is a wonderful tripod. Highly recommended!

This is a top tripod, rock solid footing for faultless long exposure shots and general landscapes alike.

The flexible centre column is really useful when shooting macro, really lets you put the camera wherever you want.

Probably on the limit for travel and trekking weightwise but if you don't take it you'll regret it.
I use a Manfrotto 785B on long treks but its just not the same.

All in all this is a great product at a fairly decent price.

This has to be one of the best bargains out there. A tripod with superb build quality and tonnes of features. Has its own bubble level and the legs will fold out to give you a rock solid platform as low as 27mm. The central column can also be tipped by 180 degrees which is especially useful for macro photography. I was really surprised when I opened the box I think this tripod has features worthy of a tripod costing twice the price. Also reasonably light for aluminium. Also come with its own tool kit a true sign of quality!

I brought this tripod to use with my medium Format camera gear. So the fact that it takes 8Kgs in weight was very improtant. It has an excellent build quality and for the price I think there is no better.
