The Hitech 100mm Pro Stopper 10 is made from strong CR39 dyed substrate Resin and designed to reduce the amount of light entering the lens by 10f/stops, allowing you to get creative with long exposures. The effects created by using longer exposures is motion blur on anything that moves such as clouds, waterfalls, seas, people, cars, and rivers. The Pro Stop filter is fitted with a 1.5mm foam gasket perimeter, which creates a seal between the filter holder and lens, ensuring minimum light spillage around the sides.   More

A great product at a reasonable price. Colour cast isn't too bad and the baffle around the filter edge does stop stray light getting in. I bought the 1.5mm thickness which fits into the Cokin Z-pro holder. Its a great alternative to the market leader.

Okay, but colour casts when front lit

I was sceptical about this product, there are really varied reviews. With the production delays Lee have, I thought I'd take a punt.

If shooting front-lit objects, the filter is great and comparable to my Hoya ND+400. However, when shooting back-lit, or even side-lit, subjects there are serious colourcast issues. If you primarily shoot B&W then this isn't going to be a problem for you, but if you're after beautiful colour sunsets etc - this might not be the filter for you. I shoot B&W so am not really put-off by this.

That said, I am not regretting buying it.

Once you get to grips with how to correct the colour cast this is a great product at a very good price.
Comes in a nice protective pouch with a long exposure chart to calculate how long to expose for.
Very durable as it's a resin filter and not as easily broken as a glass filter.
Has a foam gasket to elimante light leakage and slips into the holder nice and snug.
The clarity can look a little softer than other products I've seen but not majorly, this is why I gave four stars and not five.
After some practice with this filter I am very very happy with it.

good, but creates strong colour cast

Handling is good, and it fits nicely into my Lee filter holder. The drawback is the strong blue/green colour cast it imparts on the final image. This can be fixed in post production or by manually white-light balancing before shooting. This makes the overall process labour intensive. I'd recommend it if you are willing to put the effort in.

This filter is good for long expoure. Just slip it in into the holder and you are good to go. It has a blue color cast, but it can easily be fixed during post processing.

Gave it a proper test drive this morning, and it did a good job as a 10 stop filter.

Have uploaded a colour cast comp image here (shot with 5d mkII, 16-35 2.8 L in RAW and direct conversion) so you can make your own mind up about that.

Went for this over the Lee, partly for availability and partly for cost - and I'm happy with my decision, as it isn't something that's going to get used every day.
