The Hoya 77mm Pro-1 Digital UV is a multi-purpose fine-weather filter that absorbs the ultraviolet rays which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. A multi-purpose filter for colour as well as black and white film and digital photography, the clear UV filter can also be left on the lens to serve as a permanent lens protector. More
Digital camera CCD or CMOS sensors are highly susceptible to reflections and this stray light can ruin your photographs. Don't risk your valuable photos by using bare-glass filters - try a Hoya Digital Multi-Coated filter and see how the benefit of substantially reduced reflections can improve your images. Reduced internal reflections mean a clearer image with greater contrast.
Digital multi-coated filters greatly reduce the appearance of lens flare and ghosting caused by reflections.
Filters feature a black matte aluminum satin finish almite frame which reduces reflections.
These filters are equipped with black rimmed glass to reduce the chance of light reflecting off the edge.
Ultra thin filter frames to help avoid vignetting on super wide angle lenses are also designed to hold a lens cap.
These filters are equipped with a straight knurling edge for non-slip, easy attachment and removal.
Filter cases are UV protected to further lengthen the life of filters.

About Me Semi-pro Photographer
Comments about Hoya 77mm Pro1 Digital UV Filter:
I have a number of these on the front of all of my Nikkor pro lenses. I'm not remotely convinced they would save the front of the lens in anything other than a light bump but they do mean you never have to clean the front of a £1k+ lens.Occasionally I enjoy a bit of live band and performance photography and if you're bouncing about in the mosh pit you'd be suprised how much salty sweat (I really hope it's sweat) and beer is collected by your lens so I regard these filters predominantly as a sacrificial element. I've always managed to get them clean but if I do damage it then it's just a small cost compared to the cost of stripping down a lens and potentially replacing some far more complex elements. I can also be more aggressive when cleaning them and I suspect that some of the incidents would have been a nightmare to clean up without a filter fitted. It has no visible effect on colour or contrast so doesn't degrade IQ. Adding another element to the lens will always have a detrimental effect on IQ, but I really can't see it in the images.I use Pro1 filters exclusively and get no noticeable flare or ghosting, unlike some others I've tried, even when shooting sunsets although this may have something to do with using decent lenses with decent coatings rather than an inherrent property of the filter. It's a fairly low profile mount so I don't have to worry too much about stacking filters. It does start to vignette at somewhere between 24 and 28mm if used with the Hoya polariser though.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
