Very impressed with it's light weight.
About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Comments about Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod:
Very stable and relatively very light. For use indoors mainly. So impressed with it, I immediately purchased a smaller Manfrotto carbon fibre tripod for outdoor walks.

Unlike many of the other reviewers I neither own nor have used the aluminium version of this tripod, so not sure how they compare. But it certainly is a lot lighter than other metal tripods I've used. It is also remarkably sturdy and steady once set up correctly.I primarily use it for studio work in my house or for landscape photography when I go for walks or on daytrips. I actually keep this tripod permanently in my car and just bring it inside when needed. I would love to take it with me on longer trips and holidays but despite it's relatively light weight it is still quite bulky and just isn't a convenient travel tripod.I'm impressed with the weight it can handle. I frequently use it with a 5DMKII with a 100-400mmm lens, and it copes extremely well. I'm also pleased with how sturdy and steady it is in most conditions. My only real gripe about it is that it has a relatively large footprint, especially when fully extended, which is a bit of a problem when doing 360 degree panoramas. But it isn't a problem that can't be overcome.

I have been using this tripod for a while now, and I am delighted with it. I use it mainly for macro and landscapes and it is very rugged and extremely stable.

Solid and a good size
from North Yorkshire
I bought this to replace my other Manfrotto which was a bit too heavy. This one is much lighter but I don't feel it is any less robust for that. It has a good height without having to extend the centre column but I suppose this depends on how high you are. I haven't used it extensively yet but so far it seems a good buy.
Worth it's Weight
Brought this tripod as I wanted the size of the 055XPROB but the weight of my little Monfrotto Compact series tripod. Very light and slighty stronger than the Aluminium version but at the over twice the price of the 055XPROB, but for the weight saving its been a well worth while investment. Very stable and versatile from being low to the ground to reaching over a table for macro and high above an average persons head this Tripod is worth a look.
My first realy brilliant tripod
At last I have a tripod that is sturdy and amazingly adjustable. Sure it is heavy, but look at what it can support.Took my best ever macro shots with it.The horizontal arm took my Canon 5D with macro lens and everything was rock solid.
Light weight sturdy
A lot better to carry around than my aluminium one and sturdy
does the job well

the legs fallout swiftly and smoothly so easy to find the best position. Very easy to lock off. Solid platform and robust in windy conditions. Its not the lightest but having the scope or telephoto lens in place makes it work as a single unit. I use it with the 701hdv head which gives an excellent combination.Only niggle is not having the warm leg cuffs, although not crucial on a carbon tripod

A good decision.

About Me Semi-Professional
I hovered over the aluminum version but in the end decided to go for the carbon fibre, it's about 1kg saved and I'm so glad I did. It feels beautifully made and the leg locking system has a positive feel when engaging. At full height and without using the centre column then adding a head and camera it becomes a little over eye level for me so no stooping down (I'm 5' 10").

I bought this after reviewing several different tripods on the Internet and at camera shops. I opted for this to use with my canon 5d mark II and my largest lens (100-400mm). As I am 6'2" I felt the extra height this tripod gave me and the added stability was worth the extra money. The fact that it is carbon fibre means that it isn't as cold when holding it (not as silly as it might sound when using it outdoors in winter!)Thanks WEX for the service offered and the advice given on your online chat service. I will be back once I have saved for the 808RC4!
