An innovative 3D Head unlike any other! Cast from lightweight magnesium, the head can be positioned in virtually any position to get the exact framing of the image. The lock-system using spring-loaded conical joints allows greater flexibility than any other 3D head whether mounted on a tripod centre column or lateral arm.
The rubber grip knobs provide finger tip control and won't poke you in the eye like conventional handles do. The 460Mg is the ideal head in combination with the MagFibre line for 35mm SRLs and medium format cameras, both digital and traditional.
Camera attachment via the included 200PL quick release plate: 1/4".
Optional Plates: 200PL-38, 200PLARCH-14, 200PLARCH-38.

About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Well worth owning this head as it weighs nearly nothing. Together with a CF tripod you have an ultra lightweight tripod setup for traveling/walking.Each of the three axis are adjustable and the knobs are easy to lock in, but you cant quickly reposition your shot, other than pan which you can leave unlocked and still be quite stable. So its no good for sports/wildlife, but fine for still things. Nice wide range of movement, and once unlocked its free and quick, but not accurate - the oppersite of a geared head. The weight is its strength. It weighs less than most lenses you probably own.

Manfrotto 460MG 3D Magnesium Head
from Hedon near Hull
lightweight and plate fits nicely
Does the job well
Bought this to go with the Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod and it works just as I hoped. Not too bulky but stable for heavy lenses and camera. Not ideal for rapid movement (i.e. sport) of course but ideal for general use.

This really does what it says on the tin. It's compact and easy to set up and use with all the knobs locking it tight. If I had to make any negative comment it would be that you can't rotate it in portrait format both ways - it only tilts to the left (looking from behind the camera)
Very well made and easy to use.

I use this mainly for macro and landscape and am very happy with it. I find it reassuringly well made.

wonderful, what you need.

Superb versatile head

The use of short knobs to lock this head instead of long handles are a definite boon so far as I am concerned. everything about this head pleases me and it is a pleasure to use in the field. Can be a bit slow to set up but that goes with this sort of head.
Everything as expected
It's not the most expensive of the Manfrotto heads, but you still get everything you expect. Magnesium alloys are used in aero engineering and motor racing, so while it feels flimsy I have no doubts about it's durability. It's all very logical, and it's design lends itself to quick and accurate repositioning, placing it in a nice middle ground between ball and pan/tilt heads. However I do have qualms with the quick release plate, which as with many manfrotto heads works more comfortably when fitted backwards, it's a minor irritation, and not as bad as the difficulty to get it to collapse down in any convenient way.Overall it's a well engineered head, and would be a perfect partner to a carbon fibre tripod.
