An innovative 3D Head unlike any other! Cast from lightweight magnesium, the head can be positioned in virtually any position to get the exact framing of the image. The lock-system using spring-loaded conical joints allows greater flexibility than any other 3D head whether mounted on a tripod centre column or lateral arm.
The rubber grip knobs provide finger tip control and won't poke you in the eye like conventional handles do. The 460Mg is the ideal head in combination with the MagFibre line for 35mm SRLs and medium format cameras, both digital and traditional.
Camera attachment via the included 200PL quick release plate: 1/4".
Optional Plates: 200PL-38, 200PLARCH-14, 200PLARCH-38.

About Me Semi-Professional
Comments about Manfrotto 460MG 3D Magnesium Head:
I use this product when I need the camera on a tripod. It is so much better than a conventional head with a control arm. It copes with any plane and angle and allows very precise placement.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great tripod head
By Bill the gopher
About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
This is a great tripod head, but it is heavy (although it doesn't stop me giving it five stars)! Unless you are carrying this for a long time it is not an issue, but it needs saying. However it is good, really good. If you are used to standard heads which you set and then they droop into position, be prepared as this one locks up tight where you want it. Everything is adjustable and the plate clamp is doubly secure with its own lock. The level bubble is really useful and shows just how far out I have been setting the head originally.A great addition to my kit bag which makes me slow down and take better shots, rather than just rushing it.

About Me Casual user
I bought this head for my new Manfrotto lightweight tripod as the one that came with it was a bit flimsy. I already have a quite heavy professional Manfrotto tripod with a multiway adjustable head similar to the head I am reviewing and wanted a lightweight on similar and this fits the bill perfectly. It is smooth and easy to use. Everything is in the right place and it looks good. I would recommend this head to anyone and everyone.

Very good product
Well worth owning this head as it weighs nearly nothing. Together with a CF tripod you have an ultra lightweight tripod setup for traveling/walking.Each of the three axis are adjustable and the knobs are easy to lock in, but you cant quickly reposition your shot, other than pan which you can leave unlocked and still be quite stable. So its no good for sports/wildlife, but fine for still things. Nice wide range of movement, and once unlocked its free and quick, but not accurate - the oppersite of a geared head. The weight is its strength. It weighs less than most lenses you probably own.
Manfrotto 460MG 3D Magnesium Head

lightweight and plate fits nicely
Does the job well
Bought this to go with the Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod and it works just as I hoped. Not too bulky but stable for heavy lenses and camera. Not ideal for rapid movement (i.e. sport) of course but ideal for general use.

This really does what it says on the tin. It's compact and easy to set up and use with all the knobs locking it tight. If I had to make any negative comment it would be that you can't rotate it in portrait format both ways - it only tilts to the left (looking from behind the camera)
Very well made and easy to use.

I use this mainly for macro and landscape and am very happy with it. I find it reassuringly well made.

I bought this after much deliberation and on the whole I'm very please with it, lightweight and quick to adjust.
