I bought the 700RC2 to use on my Manfrotto 055XB Tripod (that normally sports an 808RC4 head for still photography) as my Video Tripod was a waste of time – I will not mention the manufacture. The 700RC2 on the Manfrotto Tripod is very stable and useable with both an Old Canon XM2 & a New Panasonic SD900 Camcorder; the XM2 is fairly large but still handles well on the 700RC2 head. The head has very little features but I do like the lock on the quick release plate, this certainly adds to the secure feel this head has. The Pan and Tilt are smooth in both directions but have no adjustable mechanism on the fluid dampening, but still work extremely well with both my Camcorders, I would recommend this Head to anyone who uses a digital Camcorder, although some use this type of head for still photography I wouldn't, certainly if you are serious about your photography, after all it is a fluid Video Head, perhaps those who use a spotting Scope could also put this very well made head into use, I must give it 4 stars, not quite 5 as it is very basic but does one grand Job as all Manfrotto products do. The only down side I have, and this is with all Manfrotto Head/Tripod combinations, you need to remove the locking screws on the tripod to change Heads – a good system but clumsy & time consuming. Fortunately I don't do Video and Stills at the same time so a change of Head takes place at home – not in the field. Summing up the 700RC2 is well built, fluid in use, pleasant to use and not too Large as to make it a burden to carry on your Tripod.

I've been very pleased with this head, I use it with a small mini DV camera and also with my still camera when I want faster adjustment than I can easily get with the proper "stills" head, for example when shooting wildlife. Movement is smotth for a head of this price and it has a good solid feel to it.
