Comments about NEC-Mitsubishi NEC SpectraView Reference 271 LCD 27 inch Monitor:
Needing to replace an ageing 23" Apple Cinema display I'd agonised over what sort of screen to go for. I'm so pleased I opted for this one. Firstly it takes up no more room than the old Apple monitor, with it's much narrower frame. Secondly the sheer acreage of workspace available is fanastic. Finally, working in either Photoshop or Lightroom is no longer cramped and you can get the full use of these programmes. The best thing though is the colour accuracy you can get with this screen. Having spent this sort of money on a screen it makes sense to ensure all your colour calibration is at the top of its game right acros your workflow. I've used a ColorMunki for some years now and, although straight out of the box the Spectraview is pretty much bang-on, fine-tuning the profiling of the monitor and synchronising that across other devices takes a lot of the guesswork out of editing and printing. I can confidently print from the screen image and print what I see.If you've put skill, time and effort into taking and editing photos then this monitor will make the most of what you've done.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Accurate colours out of the box

Confidence with my photos is what this screen is all about. If it looks right on screen, it will look great coming back from the printers. The enormous size means that I can now use two applications at once - great when setting up a website or learning. One important point - don't be lazy and patch it into your old cable like I did. It is unlikely to be up to the task. You must use the new cable supplied.
