I use this lens on a Nikon D7000. I bought it to replace a Tamron 18-270mm that seemed incompatible with the camera.
The lens is pin sharp throughout the focal range, particularly at f11.0 and as such it is a really good all-purpose lens with a reasonable zoom range.
Construction is good and feels solid, with no zoom-creep.
On the minus side, chromatic aberration is very evident at 105mm at the edges.
I have compared side-by-side with a Nikon 50mm prime lens and this lens compares very very well at that focal length.
In short, excellent value for money. Don't expect professional results throughout the range, but for the price you can't really expect any more.

I bought this lens to extend the range of my camera without having to spend too much. The focal length works well for and I don't need to carry two lenses around. With this lens attached, the camera still fits my Lowe Alpine holster bag.
Generally pleased, although I would have liked a higher quality lens, had I been able to afford one.

Had another make of lens for my Nikon D3000, but wasn't happy at all with it. Bought this lens to replace it, & never been happier. Enjoying my photography again.

I've used this on my d700 and have had some fantastic results, close up shots are quite good also, colour are spot on also.
Good general lens worth the money

This is a heavy lens that has a good performance, but is let down a plastic attaching base, that can be easily broken if the lens receives the slightest knock relative to the body

An improvement on the D40/60 kit lens, but not up to the standard of the 18-200mm VR or the 16-85mm VR.

VR works really well, AF uses lower grade components than the more expensive AF-S lenses so is not as fast or as smooth.

Lens mount is plastic, but this keeps weight down.

Takes standard 67mm filters with non-rotating front.

Generally excellent iamge quality across the focal range.

Nothing else in this price range has the quality or features.

I was struggling to shot events using my 18-55 and 55-200, this lens is a brilliant bridge between them. The quality is great and sharp, i would advise a bigger hood if you shoot outdoor alot.

This lens is everything you would expect from Nikon - well built, precise focusing and great vibration reduction. It has a useful focal range and performs well at all focal lengths it is great for portraits and landscapes, in fact I have yet to find a subject that cannot be captured with amazing clarity using this lens. I used to own the 18 to 200 version of this lens and to be honest that lens performed well but because of the amount of glass it tended to flatten colours. The 18 to 105 does not suffer from that problem, colours produced are true and accurate. I would recommend this lens to anyone - professional or amateur - you will not be disappointed
