Comments about Nikon 60mm f2.8 D AF Micro Nikkor Lens:

This is a superb lens if you want to foray into the world of macro. The build quality is reminiscent of the lenses I was brought up on in the age of 35mm. It is made in Japan as opposed to being manufactured in a country with lower production costs and this shows. It is a precision made solid piece of kit that will reward you with sharp stunning images. It focusses quickly but of course only with cameras with a built in motor. It will work on other erstwhile cameras such as the D3100 and D5100 but you will have to switch to manual. This is fine but awkward if the subject is moving even slightly (a flower blowing in a breeze or an insect). The only criticism of this excellent lens is the absence of a case or pouch to keep it in. Pouches can be obtained for a few pounds but in my opinion it should be part of the package. Buy this lens and you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Nikon 60mm f2.8 D AF Micro Nikkor Lens:

Mainly use this for close up work, but it also works superbly as a portrait lens. Beautiful, smooth bokeh. Razor sharp, even towards the extremes but obviously loses a small degree of clarity when wide open. Well built but lightweight.

Comments about Nikon 60mm f2.8 D AF Micro Nikkor Lens:

I bought this lens as I have an interest in macro and have had some good results but it does require patience. I also have found it to be an excellent lens for portraits with a lovely bokeh and fine detail and as it won't autofocus on my Nikon D5000, I have had to learn how to use a lens properly which is no bad thing. I will now invest in some extension tubes to hopefully improve my results of macro by having greater working distance.

        now my standard lens

Comments about Nikon 60mm f2.8 D AF Micro Nikkor Lens:

I bought this as it seems to be the only current nikon macro lens that works properly with extension tubes. It is so much lighter than my 105mm, which now lives in the rucksac rather than on the camera. It works well with tubes, and as a standard lens is crisp & fast, with the auto-focus working like magic. The front mount is so recessed that a lens hood seems un-necessary in most circumstances. It's nice not to have a pain in the neck & shoulders after a day's walking & shooting with camara at the ready. Since I usually use a tripod, the loss of VR is no problem. I will reserve the 105 for hand held insects from now on.

        First Class Macro

        By juddy

Comments about Nikon 60mm f2.8 D AF Micro Nikkor Lens:

Was recommended by a tutor the the photography course I have enrolled on. I had the opportunity to try hers out before purchasing my own and was impressed with the results. Autofocus is excellent, 1:1 macro gives excellent results, sharpness is great and build is robust. First class lens at an affordable price.

Comments about Nikon 60mm f2.8 D AF Micro Nikkor Lens:

I bought this lens so I could make a start in macro photography. And so pleased I Did! Is absolutely fantastic.
The build quality is 1st class, unlike the plastic kit lens's this thing is built to last! All metal construction and feels very well made.
Autofocus is fast and sure, locking on subjects fast and with accuracy. Though you should note this will only AF with bodies with a built in focus motor. So if you have a D40/D40x/D60 you will have to manual focus (You do anyway with macro work).
Optically this lens sets the benchmark, it really is as sharp as it gets, amazing.
This lens also serves as a perfect portrait lens on a DX camera, giving the equivilant of 90mm focal length in 35mm terms.
If you want it then go for it, i own 6 lens's and this is my favourite.
