The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II lens offers re-designed optics for exceptional image quality and increased Vibration Reduction capability. The VRII technology enables photographers to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible (as determined by Nikon performance tests). The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II lens can be used in one of two modes: Normal for everyday shooting and Active, which minimises the vibration experienced when shooting aircraft for example. Both the Normal and the Active modes offer a stable viewfinder image, essential for making focus point acquisition and framing far more comfortable and precise. More

Reliable and trustworthy lens
from Manchester (UK)
I've been using this Nikon 70-200mm f2.8G VR ii since I bought it in mid August 2014. Having tried on shooting portraits and wildlife (moderate degree), I know this lens will be always with me. When I want to carry a light bag, I sometimes interchange my 24-70mm f2.8G with 50mm f1.8, but this 70-200mm is always in my bag. I like the fast autofocus and especially the faultless sharpness of images. Although I have a 85mm f1.8 for portraits, I've found myself actually using this 70-200mm more comfortably for portraits, and I've even tried it for micro-shooting with very impressive results. The zooming is very smooth, manual focus is precise and easy to handle with just one finger. The weight is a bit heavy, but after a little while I've got used to it, and I prefer hand hold for flexibility. The VR ii is excellent. In my view, one may consider alternative choices among many different lenses for different purposes, but this 70-200mm doesn't need any more thinking, you just find its capability in almost all occasions.

Lightening fast focus and improved VR
About Me Professional
After putting off an upgrade from the previous VR version for years, I now wish Id made the jump sooner. Overall the optics are pin sharp with little distortion, the focus is incredibly quick and accurate, and the VR a big leap over the old model. The position of the zoom/focus bands has been tweaked so its more comfortable and faster to use in anger.
worth the money and the weight
I was a bit put off at first by the weight of it and the fact it is the lens not the camera that fits on the tripod. But the results make it all worth while. Fabulous pin-sharp images - even hand held. Definitely a good investment if you are serious about your photography
Best Bit of Kit
About Me Semi-Professional
This has to be one of the best Nikon Len's available really does what it says on the tin. Fills the void from 70mm to 200mm and is ideal for any type of photography including sport and wildlife. The lens delivers superb image quality and Nikon have given photographers another superb bit of kit.

Worth the weight for quality it generates

The VR function is a good bonus
Professionals must have
This has to be a must have lens for anyone photographing wildlife, sport, action or general photography. This is a great option when a larger lens would take the image too close. This lens has joined my kit of lenses from 24mm right through to 600mm. I would highly recommend this lens as part of the photography kit of any photographer so that every photography situation can be covered with the right size of lens. F2.8 to F11 gives scalpel sharp results, even F16 upwards does not cause significant diffraction. This lens gives good bokeh in my opinion.
Workhorse of the range of lenses
I have most of the top pro lenses and judge every lens against them .This lens measures up we'll not quite as good as top primes but all zooms are not as good. As I make large prints this is more apparent anything up to A3 are fine As for general use the zoom range is perfect I always Cary it
VR 1 was good this is amazing

Amazing lens expensive but worth it and better value than Canon equivalent, one of the reasons I stayed with Nikon, heavy as the original VR1 version but so good its worth carrying about, very sharp !
