The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II lens offers re-designed optics for exceptional image quality and increased Vibration Reduction capability. The VRII technology enables photographers to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible (as determined by Nikon performance tests). The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II lens can be used in one of two modes: Normal for everyday shooting and Active, which minimises the vibration experienced when shooting aircraft for example. Both the Normal and the Active modes offer a stable viewfinder image, essential for making focus point acquisition and framing far more comfortable and precise. More
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II Lens
The new lens delivers corner to corner quality on FX cameras and the Nikon exclusive anti-reflection Nano Crystal coat, together with seven ED glass elements minimises internal reflections and aberrations, ultimately producing rich, high contrast images, no matter what lighting conditions you are shooting in.
There are three focus modes on the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II Lens; A/M; M/A and M. The new A/M switch enables autofocus priority even if the focus ring is being handled during shooting.
The newly designed optics of the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II lens allow shorter dimensions than the current version and don't compromise on the necessary durability. This lens is housed in a tough magnesium body and is extensively sealed to withstand the affects of dust, dirt and moisture.

About Me Professional
Comments about Nikon 70-200mm AF-S Nikkor f2.8G ED VR II Lens:
Compared to cheaper makes or even cheaper comparable Nikon lenses, this is a bit on the heavy side. BUT that is simply because it is made very well and has a lot of glass in it. I almost always shoot using a tripod, but on occasions that isn't practicable you will probably notice the weight after a full day carrying this around your neck. BUT that is not different to the days of medium-format equipment. This lens is wonderfully crisp and if you shoot a point-light-source such as a spotlight or street lamp at night you will discover how beautifully it handles flare , producing crisp star bursts rather than the blobby fog of cheaper lenses.Focus is silent and very fast!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A 'must have' for landscape photography
from Aberdyfi, Wales
Yes, this lens is bigger, heavier and more expensive than many.BUT……..It's simply a 'must have' for any landscape photographer. It's razor sharp, built like a brick out-house and produces wonderful results.Sell the car, tell the wife you're not going on holiday next year and buy one. It's the only sensible thing to do.
Best in Class
I have had and worked with the orginal 70-200mm lens for a few years and thought it was great. but,WOW!! the re-incarnation of this lens is outstanding.Right out the box and onto my camera a few test shots outdoor and I was blown away. The images was tact sharp and crystal clear, a definite improvement.Put the camera in Manual mode and tweeked the shutter speed down to 1/40 to see how the VR would perform, OMG it is unbeleivable!!Well done Nikon, still the best in class :o)
Lives up to the Hype

What can I say other than it lives up to it's star billing and you will not be disappointed with it's performance. If you use a tripod / monopod a great deal it is worth investing in the RRS replacement Arca Swiss Foot.

A great Lens as I bought as an upgrade to use on my D700. Expensive but worth the cost
This is an outstanding lens.
About Me Semi-Professional
The 70-200 is just perfect in every way.
Better than I could have hoped for.
Streets ahead of my previous lens by far. If your concerned about the cost as I was wait that little while longer. Buy cheap buy twice!

Sublime lense worth every penny!!
By Simon Chandler
Best purchase I've made for my business. I have wanted this lense for the last two years and finally "bit the bullet" and bought one. It may seem expensive but the image and build quality is second to none and it is a lense I use all the time. Second hand these lenses still fetch around £1300 so even if you did need to sell it you would not lose much value.
