About Me Casual Photographer
Comments about Nikon D5100 Digital SLR with 18-55mm VR Lens:
Still learning about the camera, I upgraded from D5000 which I liked, so all that I can say is that up to now I am not disappointed , especially as I considered it a good deal and purchase for me.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A Great Performer
I have only had the camera for 3 days but have taken over 500 shoots over the w/e. So far I'm very impressed with the results(see images). There has been no post editing to these shots they are straight from the camera using the kit 18-55 lens. I have yet to fully master the controls and work my way round the menu but all looks good. I was toying wether to go for the Canon 600d as it is in a similar price range but the only thing that let the Canon down was the very slow focusing in live view. The Staff at WEX Norwich were very helpful which allowed me to make the right choice of camera for my needs.

My first DSRL
My first DSRL and I love it. Easy to use in auto and good pics right from the start. I am enjoying finding all its other features. Have bought a Sigma 70-300mm as the kit lens is fine to start with but as I learn more additional lens is required. Great camera and excellent for beginners like me.
Nice entry level digital SLR
My D200 (with 18-200mm VR Lens) was too heavy to lug around when I go on walking trips or city breaks so I got myself a D5100. It's light enough to have around my neck without being too uncomfortable. I also have a 55-200mm that I have in the backpack just in case I need to zoom in on something interesting. But I find the kit lens 18-55 was sufficient for most spur of the moment shots. I do miss the professional quality and all the easy to access buttons of a semi-pro D200 so I'll probably be getting a D600-800 sometime in the future for more serious photo-trips.
I am a compete novice and was advised to buy this camera by a professional photographer.I am very pleased I did!
Just what I would expect from Nikon
Used mainly for travel & wildlife pictures have taken nearly 300 photo's in the short time that I have had the camera good results to date only bad results are from my experimentation.

I purchased this deal and i must say that the service i received from Wex was excellent. When i received the camera, i wasnt able to open the battery lid as it was little tight(which is usual) but i thought there was a fault so i called wex and they arranged it to be collected in 3 hours time and i got it back in 2 days. There was actually no fault on the battery lid as i was just being too cautious and they called me before explaining the same to me.The guys on the telephone line were very cool too. 5Star service over all and about the product...well i guess every one knows it..its very good. Also, I got my Nikon cashback and every thing else mentioned in this deal.....its a pity though that I still havent recieved my TCB cashback after purchasing it on 18 Jan 2013! It was over all a Super Deal!
Good for the novices

Quite easy to use, if in doubt the Auto setting offers a great easy solution. Focusing can take a while to get used to and not right every time but with a digital you have the scope to keep taking as many photos as you want. On the other hand, it can be tricky to set up quickly for impromptu wildlife shots.
Delighted with this camera
from East Anglia
I use the camera every day. It's superb in good weather, less easy to get perfect shots on overcast days. Good in low light as you can increase the ISO quite a lot before you lose too much quality.
