The Nikon D7000 is a 16.2 megapixel digital SLR camera that is packed full of high-end imaging technology. The newly developed CMOS sensor and Expeed 2 image processor deliver lifelike images with vivid colours, reduced noise and smooth tonal gradations, and because the sensor is DX format it's compatible with the full range of Nikon's lenses. Showing its professional roots, the D7000 offers dual SD card slots for enhanced shooting flexibility and a razor-sharp 39-point autofocus system, making the Nikon D7000 an ideal camera for wildlife and sports photographers. If the 6 frame-per-second shooting rate isn't fast enough, the D7000 also offers full 1920x1080 HD movie recording. Robust enough to withstand most situations and light enough to go anywhere, the Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera is a natural choice if photography is your passion. More
8 April 2011 - It may be small, but the D7000 packs a very powerful punch and as I write this, pretty much stands as the best DX DSLR to roll out of the Nikon factory to date. Despite the size and lower spec, I’ve found it actually compliments the mighty D3s (yes, really) as a second body quite well and I’ve enjoyed shooting with it not only at home in the UK but as far afield as the freezing valleys of Yellowstone National Park in winter. Let’s have a look…

Comments about Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera Body:
I upgraded from D3000 as I felt that for the type of photos I was trying to achieve I needed something that had more Bells and Whistles ...this camera so far has achieved that.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Value and quality
By Jamie B
The D7000 is an excellent option for those looking to upgrade from some of the smaller bodied Nikon cameras. The leap in overall quality from something like the D5100, (the camera I replaced) is incredible. Although both cameras have a similar spec sheet, the D7000 has a tonne of features that will actually make taking photos easier. The external controls for instance allow a much more ergonomic approach to changing the usual settings rather than trolling through the menus like in the more basic models. One of the reasons i wanted a larger bodied camera was the viewfinder on the smaller cameras always felt like i was looking through a tunnel at my subject. Whereas the D7000 has a larger, brighter viewfinder that allows me to accurately see what i am shooting and engage more with the subject. The body itself has an autofocus motor that will allow you to use both older, manual lenses and a variety of newer pro lenses that would otherwise not autofocus (or meter) on smaller bodies. The build quality of the D7000 is fantastic. It feels heavy, ( a con for some but i love it) and durable and when mounted with a heavyish lens the balance in your hands feels right. Overall it is a fantastic camera that is half the price of its successor the D7100. I love my camera and i can wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking to buy a camera that will last them years and allow them to begin the journey into a lifetime of photography.
Great starter for those with the money
About Me Casual Photographer
I bought this an an upgrade to the D70s and the crossover in using it out of the box was seamless. After reading every review I wanted a camera which could deal with A2 blowups and some family video and this produces the goods. Ive used it for 7 weeks now and It is a little weightier than the D70 and you could probably get similar quality photos with a cheaper model, but if you can stretch your budget you will not be disappointed in any way concerning the picture quality you take.
I love this camera
Lovely to use and fantastic build quality
A most versatile camera

Great things about the D7000 include excellent auto-focus and high ISO settings for use in low light.

Having used a Nikon D5000 the last two years I decided on an upgrade after doing a few bits of work and finding the D5000 limiting. My issues were to do with the LCD screen not being of high enough quality or size to properly review my work on site, the lack of 100% viewfinder for properly composing my shots and the degradation of quality when pumping up the iso in low light. The D7000 has made me a happy man, having addressed all my issues with my previous camera. It has also made life easier with more focus points, more controls on the body rather than in menu, higher quality images, the ability for using lens without autofocusing motors, the ability to back up images with a second sd card and the build and size of the body just makes me happier and confident that i'm not going to have any issues on location. For someone who shoots the odd portrait or event for other people and a bit of landscape for myself I don't need any higher resolution, frame rate etc. The D7000 is more than capable of doing what I need it to. Why spend double the money on the newer D7100 when this is fantastic and has proven itself over and over to many people the last few years it's been out. I'd only upgrade further if I was doing a lot of shooting in specific scenarios that really worked the camera beyond it's capability but unless you are working professionally I doubt you will ever get near the scenario that pushes this camera.
