Great product which is simple and performs well. Just attach to the cameras hotshoe, set camera to commander and flash to slave and off you go. Works superbly and reliably. Even managed to get it to work when not in direct 'line of sight'. Sturdy enough but could snap if treated without a bit of care.

I bought this item as I've been fiddling around with macro shots using my D200 in 'commander mode' and my SB 800 as a slave flash. This means I dont need an expensive TTL cord to use my flash near the lens for macro work.
Whilst I think there may be occasions when blocking the control flash from the camera will have an effect on the final photo, my tests havent shown this so far!
This is included with the Nikon macro flash set up and I'm thinking of progresing to that system in the future. So this will end up as a spare.

This Nikon SG-3IR IR is a good simple bit of kit , I have been using it in conjunction with my Nikon SB800 speedlight . the SB800 has been mounted on a tripod and I have been using the on-camera flash to trigger the speedlight all works fine but the pop up flash was adding light to the image , so putting this panel over the flash cuts out the light being projected from the pop up flash and only allowing the infared light to pass which in turn triggered the SB800 . so a job well done and I'm pleased with this item.
