The ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm 1:1.8 lens offers an equivalent range of 90mm on a 35mm film camera. The lens comes with a sleek metal-like exterior design and is ideal for capturing snapshots, portraiture, indoor shooting and landscape photography. A large maximum aperture of f1.8 can perform superbly in a great range of applications, including capturing a nice depth of field effect by blurring the background and making your subject in focus, a well lit and sharp portraitures etc. Featuring a rounded seven-blade diaphragm opening, the Olympus 45mm 1:1.8 prime lens makes out of focus elements appear more natural.  More

Olympus 45mm f1.8 Lens Review

Olympus 45mm f1.8 Lens Review

February 2013 - It isn’t big and grand but because it’s a cunningly designed little prime it can give a star turn which zooms can’t match. Compared to a kit lens it costs a little more money, but in comparison with lenses that can match it optically it is cheap.Read the Olympus 45mm f1.8 review on the Wex Blog... »

Comments about Olympus 45mm f1.8 ZUIKO Digital Micro Four Thirds lens:

This lens came highly recommended by the editors of Amateur Photographer and What Digital Camera magazines, and so I took a chance and bought it from Wex without having tried it in any local camera store. Good decision!

It's sharp wide open at F1.8, and I use this aperture as often as I can because the bokeh it produces is just gorgeous. I'm surprised that I haven't taken it off the camera since buying it in early December 2012. A 90mm equivalent is actually a pretty useful focal length outdoors. I'll now have to save up for the 17mm F1.8 Olympus for wider shots .........

And, it's a really pretty lens, looking lovely on my black Panasonic G5 body. I know the finished product - the photograph - should be more important than the looks, but it's an added bonus that she (I'm in love) looks good too.

The autofocus of this lens on the G5 is superb - fast and accurate. When I had a Nikon film camera I used primes, but since going digital 8 years ago I've used zooms, until this OLY was recommended to me. It's a joy to use a quality prime again.

The ultimate criterion is the photo that the lens produces, and I'm chuffed to say that, using this 45mm Oly, I recently won a national photo contest. So, thanks to AP and WDC mags for the heads-up, and thanks to Wex for fast service and bomb-proof packaging.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Olympus 45mm f1.8 ZUIKO Digital Micro Four Thirds lens:

I bought this lens after looking at other reviews - all of which were very positive. I'm very happy with the picture quality and the wide aperture provides some wonderful results with shallow depth of field. There is some fall off in sharpness at the edges, but overall it's very good.

If you only buy one prime lens then this is the one. Coupled with my Olympus OMD it makes a beautiful combination.

Comments about Olympus 45mm f1.8 ZUIKO Digital Micro Four Thirds lens:

The 45mm f1.8 was my second prime lens after purchasing the 25mm f1.4, I was surprised upon opening the box at its size - it is very small and light!

The good news is this has no effect on image quality which is stunning! I find pictures taken with this lens are at least as sharp as the 25mm f1.4 which is twice the price! I've found this focal length great for portraits when not in enclosed spaces.

The bonus of it being a small light lens is you can slip it into a jacket pocket easily when out and about.

Fantastic addition to any micro 4/3rds kit bag.

Comments about Olympus 45mm f1.8 ZUIKO Digital Micro Four Thirds lens:

I decided to take the plunge and ditch my heavy dslr gear to go with Oly's new OM-D. As I waved goodbye to my L lenses and canon body [...] I must admit I had second doubts........but then the OM-D arrived, followed shortly by this beautiful prime. As everyone else has probably read in the multitude of professional reviews on this lens, it's highly regarded and even to my amateur eye, I could see why everyone raves over this lens - it's very sharp from f1.8 and the bokeh is lovely (I was very concerned the DOF would be useless on micro 4/3 as many have commented on several "respected" forums - if you're currently apprehensive about taking the plunge and going for micro 4/3, don't be!). The lens is incredibly light and small and I only have to make minor tweaks via photoshop to produce lovely portraits that I'm very happy with. The price paid was excellent and obviously, it arrived promptly from Wex without incident. I've paired this with a panasonic 14mm f2.5 and the panasonic 100-300 ultra-telephoto and I'm very impressed......plus I can stick the lot in a small kit back that doesnt take up much space or break my back!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Olympus 45mm f1.8 ZUIKO Digital Micro Four Thirds lens:

As a 90mm equivalent to full-frame cameras this makes for a super portrait lens. This is bolstered further because this lens is really sharp wide-open. This means you can confidently use it at f1.8 and get nice creamy, blurred backgrounds and maintain lovely sharp subjects.

It is the sharpest m43 lens I have and even on probably the slowest m43 body for focusing - the Oly E-P1 - it's still very quick.

Some might not like the thought of a plastic mount but it makes it nice and light and from a size perspective it's only just bigger than the Olympus kit lens when collapsed. I got a drop in contrast on a couple of shots into the light but a hood or a little shading can help prevent that of course.

This lens really does give you DSLR results with a modest m43 camera so if you take pictures of people this is definitely one for your (small!) kit bag.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
