Comments about Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens:

A great fast standard lens for the micro 4/3rds system. I have it on my OM-D EM-5. So much better than the 12~50 kit lens!

I find it ideal for my professional baby portraits.

Comments about Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens:

Have used this product to make photos of the Queen's Jubilee (on the Thames) and have to tell you, the quality of these photos are outstanding. Probably partially because of my GX1, but you can see this lens loves people. Recommend using in lit or outdoor conditions as it seems to be searching a bit longer in darker areas. Overall, a keeper.

Comments about Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens:

My first prime lens and I've been blown away, exceptionally quick auto-focus and beautiful contrast and bokeh.

I purchased the 20mm f1.7 after this lens and returned it as the auto-focus on the 20mm f1.7 was much slower and images lacked the "wow" factor of the 25mm f1.4.

Compared to the 20mm f1.7 this lens is about the same diameter but about twice as long, it's solidly built but feels great on my E-PL3 and GH2.

I bought the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens to use with my Olympus OM-D E-M5. It's my first Panasonic lens and I'm very impressed with it. It works great with the Olympus and the picture quality from the lens is very good. It's fast and AF works extremely well. I'm very pleased with it and would highly recommend it to any MFT camera user.

Comments about Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens:

The optical quality of this lens is first rate. What's not normally stated in reviews is that the P setting in M4/3 cameras tend to favour wide aperture and high speed with this lens, perhaps because the manufacturers think a user of such a lens would not want to stop down. The lens is quite noisy because of an "aperture dance" where the camera keeps it at a small aperture for viewing but opens it up for AF, then stopping back down to the taking aperture. And with the camera on and the lens pointed to scenes of different brightness the aperture dances to various settings so that the viewfinder image is controlled to some reasonable brightness. This produces noise and occasionally delays in the lens. AF speed is also lower esp. in bright sunlight because of the aperture dance, than many zooms. Both the aperture dance and the AF can be felt mechanically by the hand holding the camera.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens:

A fantastic lens for street photography and night photography. Wonderful build quality and great results. Slightly more prone to flare than the 20mm f1.7, it needs the deep lens hood provided. It is a shame you can't reverse the hood over the lens when not using it. The results are superb though - I am now able to hand-hold shots in conditions that previously would have needed a tripod or a high ISO setting.

Pricier Lens for the micro 4/3 setup, but well worth the extra money and bit of extra bulk over panasonics own 20mm.

Comments about Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens:

This is a well constructed prime lens which has a focal length equal to a 50mm standard lens old school.(film photography)

It also features a fast f1.4 maximum aperture which is perfect for group portraits and street photography. I often find myself having to stop this lens down a peg or two for correct exposure during a bright sunny day. Great soft out of focus backgrounds can easily be achieved.

I also do quite a lot of landscape work with this lens stopped down to f16 with no noticible loss of quality. Very well constructed also.

I have a lot of confidence with this product!

Only slight criticism is that the aperture opens and closes (due to changes in brightness) when my G3 is switched on. A slight clicking sound is evident while this occurs. Oh and it is rather expensive. Hopefully a great investment though!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica DG Micro Four Thirds lens:

I bought this lens to help me to slow down and look at things more carefully. It is very good for that purpose.

It is expensive for a "normal" lens, but it is of a very high quality. The in focus sharpness and the beautiful softness out of focus are reminiscent of Leica M lens quality and a joy to work with.

                  Contrast is excellent.

I have loved using the 20mm f1.7 and I wondered if this lens would be a let down. I am very happy with the pictures from it so far. Pictures in B&W are lovely.

With the GH2 both auto and manual focus are very quick and easy. I am really going to enjoy making pictures with this lens. Slow and careful photography coming up!
