The newly integrated 16.05-megapixels Digital Live MOS Sensor with Panasonic’s original pixel mix technology suppresses the noise generation and achieves excellent S/N ratio. The redesigned Venus Engine features exceptionally advanced signal processing capabilities to render clear, crisp images in both photo and video recording. The 3DNR detects smooth part and the edge part of a picture and adjust the strength of noise reduction. The Multi-process NR quickly detects brightness in each part and applies optimum noise reduction.
The DMC-G5 features the fast and accurate Light Speed AF enables to quickly focus on moving subjects. Compared with the Phase-difference system AF, the Contrast AF boasts higher accuracy even in shooting at small F value. Combined with the Full-area Touch AF, it is possible to set focus on any point in the field of view for quick and intuitive focusing with free frame composition. High Speed Burst Shooting at 6 fps in 16.05-megapixel full resolution by a mechanical shutter and max. 20 fps by an electronic shutter are also available.
Taking advantage of the 16.05-megapixel Live MOS sensor and Venus Engine, the DMC-G5 is capable of recording 1,920 x 1,080 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL ) full HD video in AVCHD Progressive. A stereo microphone, featuring Dolby Digital Stereo Creator, records dynamic, true-to-life stereo audio. In addition to the practical full-time AF, the Touch AF in video recording also lets users enjoy professional-like rack focusing. Videos can also be recorded in MP4 for instant playback on the computer without file conversion.
The DMC-G5 is a compact, lightweight camera with high mobility and intuitive operation. The combination use of the newly added function lever and turn-and push rear dial completes major shooting settings. The Eye Sensor AF automatically starts focusing when the photographer looks into the EVF to capture the spur-of-the-moment. The new Touch Pad function enables using both 1,440K-dot equivalent EVF and 920K-dot Free-angle LCD simultaneously to encourage more intuitive shooting. Level Gauge and Electric Shutter are also available.
The popular Creative Control is upgraded by increasing its filter option from 6 to 14. Effect parameter of each filter can be adjusted. For beginners of interchangeable lens system cameras, the new Scene Guide offers 23 sample pictures shot by professional photographers. You can choose the one closer to the situation you are going to shoot and optimum parameters will be automatically set. The iA Plus mode lets you adjust defocusing area, exposure compensation and white balance while activating auto shooting assist functions.
