The microphone exhibits low noise and an unusually wide bandwidth for its size. It is ultra lightweight, yet rugged due to its ABS construction. Bought it for my 5D and have not regretted it since, use the Dead Cat as well for removing wind noise - you wont find a better piece of kit for the money..

Greta value & good quality
About Me Gearhead
I bought this to use with my D3S as it has a hotshoe mount and the small jack used on DSLR bodies. I shoot people and cars for online videos with itThe sound quality is very good and pretty directional, so doesnt pick up much unwanted ambient sound, making it an good one size fits all solution, however, a lapel mic would be a good companion for interviews. The overall construction is good and well thought out, the mic is suspended to dampen vibrations which is good, but the bands look a bit flimsy. That said, they've not broken and spares were supplied with mine.
Good quality at a great price
Bought this to use on my Canon 5DMK2 as a first foray into HDSLR video at a winter wedding and was impressed. There is no comparison to the quality of the inbuilt mic which is pretty poor so this was perfect for my use which is weddings where I will use it occassionally not every week.....didn't see much point in specnding the extra for the stereo version the mono is fine as it is.
