A great memory card, have only used it twice so far, but I know I wont be going for any other type of card in future other than Extreme IV speed. So fast when writing a large amount of images, and I can fully push my cameras buffer to the limit. Looking forward to using it more, and certainly plan to replace my other cards with this also.

In a previous review of mine, of Sandisk's 30mb/s 16gb card, I wrote that it was the ultimate card, saying 'whilst not being the fastest, that was not really a problem'.

I don't use any digital media for a CF card other than photos from my full-frame D700, mostly in the form of fine jpegs. So, most of the time, the 30mbs one IS fine.

However, faced with a difficultly lit landscape, or nightscenes or one I think saleable, I'll switch to TIFFs, to record as many light/dark nuances as possible and to allow shadow detail be extracted with as little noise as possible.

Lately, I've been doing long time exposures at night, on a tripod, in TIF mode. The D700 has a long exposure noise reduction facility that (I believe) merges the best of two images taken during that exposure, as a composite and downloads that. It's that, as a TIFF file takes up to 2 minutes to download, onto a 30mbs card. During that time, the camera flashes 'job n r' at you and is inoperable. This makes an evening's shoot a drawn-out affair and on a freezing night it gets to be a bit of a nightmare.

Anyway, this 90mbs card, is three times faster and my recent Bristol street nightscapes, as TIFFs again 30 secs on a tripod made the time taken for such files to download seem almost instant. Being around an area, very much visible, is not one where you want to feel vulnerable by being slowed because of the card you use.

It is expensive, purely on the basis of what it is but in terms of what it does, its reliability, Sandisk's reputation and the fact that, loss aside, it really will be the last card I'll need to buy.
