The Sekonic L-308S Flashmate light meter offers an affordable, lightweight meter with the latest component technology and precise calibration for accurate digital exposures. The Sekonic L-308S features a choice of Full, 1/2 or 1/3 step selectable aperture settings and measures ambient or flash exposure either by incident or reflective metering modes. A built-in Lumisphere provides a quick switch from incident to reflected light measurements and a Lumidisc (included) offers precise contrast and brightness measurements. The LCD panel has also been improved for better readability. Information such as ISO, measuring modes and selected settings has been redesigned similar to the very popular Sekonic L-358 Flashmaster. All Sekonic meters are now supplied with a 5 year warranty (purchases from 1.5.12) More

Incident or reflected light measurement
Reflected light readings are captured at a receiving angle of about 40 degrees for subject readings made at the camera. Slide the L-308S's built-in Lumisphere over the silicon photo diode for incident light exposure readings of three-dimensional subjects. Snap on the included Lumidisc over the sensor for metering flat artwork or measuring contrast and/or exposure ratios within a scene.
Ambient / Flash measurement
Incident or reflected ambient light readings can be made with the L-308S over a wide range of lighting conditions at shutter speeds from 60 seconds to 1/8000th of a second and apertures from f/stops of f/1.4 to f/90.9. Flash at speeds from 1 to 1/500th of a second can be measured cordlessly or wired using a separate accessory PC cord. Flash and ambient readings are automatically calculated to display the proper exposure for the combination.
Exposures accurate down to a tenth-of-a-stop for both ambient and electronic flash light readings are available in full-stop mode. The L-308S can also display shutter speeds and apertures in half or third-stop increments to mirror the exposure settings on your camera with a repeat accuracy of +/- 0.1 EV. For cinema applications frame rates can be set from 8 to 128 frames per second. ISO sensitivity can be set from 3 to 8000 in third-stop increments.
Compact size and lightweight
The L-308S is the smallest digital flash meter for reflective and incident light readings in ambient or electronic flash lighting conditions. It is compact and light enough to fit into a shirt pocket, yet versatile enough to meet virtually every photographic demand. The L-308S is powered by a single AA battery and weighs only 3.4 ounces (95g). Its measurements are a compact 2.5"W x 4.3"H x 0.9"D (63mmW x 110mmH x 22mmD).

Best value item
By Rog the dodge
from Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire.
Does what it says on the tin, easy to use and understand, no complicated instructions and very easy to operate. Best bit of kit for the money I've bought for some time.
Sekonic light meter
Easy to use. Light weight.
So easy, wish I'd bought years ago.

"I don't need a light meter, my camera has TTL..."That is until I started photgraphing studio set ups with mixed light sources with varied subjects.Look elsewhere for tutorials...unless you shoot the same thing, all the time, in the same light...you need one of these.
Extremely happy with it
About Me Semi-pro Photographer
Use this mostly in my studio for getting the lighting just right and setting up shots. Has made a big difference on shots rather than just checking the back of the camera and saves a lot of time setting up.
Should have purchased one years ago...
I've been on two portrait lighting courses over the years. With regards to understanding exposure etc the first one advised "just use the histogram" - which is what I have been doing for some time. Then I attended another course recently where the use of a lightmeter was explained to me and I had an opportunity to play with it. I should have purchased one years ago. Simply brilliant...
Simple to use
I wanted a simple light meter to get me started without being too expensive. This does the job, easy to use and consistent.
Quick, efficient and good value
This is the first light meter that I have owned and used, mainly for the purposes of portraiture photography under studio and natural light.I have found the light meter to be quick and easy to use offering good value for the money and I am pleased with the results that it has given me,
About Me Casual Photographer
I tried portrait photography in the garage with the white background without light meter, shots ok but took ages to get right through trial and error. This takes any guess work out and don't know why i tried without it, its simply a must and easy to use.
Excellent Low Cost Light Meter
By Lee Myers Photography
I've used this light meter in my studio whilst doing portraits. I've found it extremely easy to use and very accurate. The only hassle is having to use it with a cable when testing studio lights, but that's a very minor hassle.
